We would imagine that many of us would take the opportunity to be lost in Bermuda right now, and perhaps Yak & Co, developers of Down in Bermuda, know this. Delightful, colourful and fun in equal doses, Down in Bermuda is the perfect antidote to our four walls right now and it is out now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC.

You may know developers Yak & Co from the hidden gem Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise, perennially reduced in the sales, but genuinely worth a play (we gave it a 4/5). Like that game, Down in Bermuda looks like a puzzly, colourful and narrative-driven solo experience, and we have a review raring to go for it. You’ll find our thoughts surrounding Down in Bermuda on Xbox right here

This is the tale of an older gent, Milton, who happens to have been stranded in the infamous Bermuda Triangle for decades. But something has recently shifted, and the island has opened up to reveal its secrets.

This is a quirky adventure that seems to have a hefty dose of environmental puzzling – trailers show a fair amount of block-pushing and switch-switching – and plenty of wondrous sights and sites. There are fantastic sea creatures, underground caverns and tombs that light up with long-lost power. We are told that time plays a significant role, as the Bermuda Triangle exists in a time bubble, and we would assume that this factors into the puzzling.

More importantly, Down in Bermuda looks astonishing. For a reasonably fledgling studio, this looks accomplished, and has a bright, sunkissed look that wouldn’t be out of place in a Katamari or A Short Hike. While things are dreary and housebound, it’s exactly what we’re after.

There are six unique islands to explore here, and plenty of codes to crack, puzzles to solve, and orbs to collect (Crackdown-anxiety ensues). Aside from that, we don’t know much more about Down in Bermuda, other than it looks to be the first indie in 2021 that really, fully deserves our attention. It may be a vacation that you want to take.

Down in Bermuda is out now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and starts at £16.74 from the Xbox Store. It’s also out on Switch and PC.

Game Description:

An unnatural storm leaves an adventurous aviator stranded for decades within the infamous Bermuda. Overcome creatures of the deep and unravel the islands secrets in search for a way back home. Down in Bermuda is a quirky adventure filled with puzzles to solve and mysteries to uncover. Our adventurous aviator Milton finds himself trapped in a time bubble deep inside the Bermuda and needs your help to escape. Crack codes, solve puzzles, collect magic orbs and escape each of the six unique islands, each one leading to the next on a quest for a way back home. From the studio who brought you the suave secret agent adventure Agent A: A puzzle in disguise.
