Eastern Exorcist is playable on Game Pass

If you’ve got a Game Pass subscription to hand and it’s a 2D side-scrolling RPG that you are after, then today’s latest addition is going to be of huge interest. Will you be traveling to a fictitious world full of demonic monsters in Eastern Exorcist?

Available right now as the latest game to drop into the Game Pass service, Eastern Exorcist from Wildfire Games and bilibili Game looks to be pretty special. It rocks up onto the Xbox scene for play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or PC, with a ÂŁ14.99 price tag attached. Of course, with a Day One debut into Game Pass, we’d suspect most will run that route.

Dive in and you’ll find yourself playing through Eastern Exorcist as a skilled exorcist who is trying to take down all evil. A brutal world awaits you, as the hand-drawn Chinese styled visuals draw you in. Playing as a side-scroller and working in RPG elements, in Eastern Exorcist it’ll be a case of honing your sword skills as you utilise a variety of combat mechanics and make your way through the journey that unfolds.

Key features include:

  • Art Direction – All hand-drawn Chinese ink painting style, with many atmospheric scenes.
  • Combat System – Use your sword to execute demons and monsters with tactical combat mechanics in hand-drawn frame-by-frame action design.
  • Storyline – Experience a complicated journey with joy and sorrow as an exorcist.
  • Cutscenes – Cutscenes are shown in the form of Chinese Opera.

A look at the screenshots alone should be enough to sell a play of Eastern Exorcist, especially as Game Pass subscribers can get in on the action for free. Let us know if you decide to pick this up from the Xbox Store.

And if you’re on the fence, we’ll be rolling out some review thoughts surrounding how eastern Exorcist plays on Xbox Series X|S real soon.

Should you be looking for more Game Pass joys, then there are a few due by the end of May. The equally stunning Planet of Lana rolls in on May 23rd, whilst May 25th sees a triple treat of Cassette Beasts, Massive Chalice and Railway Empire 2 arriving on the service. May 30th rounds out the additions with Chicory: A Colorful Tale with five games upping and leaving Game Pass on the 31st – Europa Universalis on PC, Evil Genius 2, FIFA 21, Floppy Knights and – and we’re quite sad about the removal of this one – Lawn Mowing Simulator. At least you’ve still got a few days to play those games.

For now, it’s all about heading to the Far East and playing Eastern Exorcist.

Game Description:

Eastern Exorcist is a stunning 2D side-scrolling action RPG set in a fictitious eastern world with the infestation of vicious demon monsters. Play as a skilled exorcist against chaotic evil to fight your way through the brutal world, and experience unforeseen entanglements of complex beings.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
