Esports Takes Center Stage: Breaking Down Major Tournaments and Events

-

The esports industry has experienced tremendous growth since 2010, with the largest tournaments now comparable in scale and popularity to some of the most established and beloved traditional sporting events.

And with the rise of esports gaming a lot of bookies have added different esports events to their bet list. Bet99 is just one example where you can go and support your favourite team. Because the esports have become a high demand over time Bet99 has made sure to provide enough events for every punter. The most famous sports are DOTA, League of Legends, and CS:GO.  There are also a lot of tournaments taking place this year and Bet99 is going to be either live streaming them or will provide live bets. Our team has decided to provide a short list of this year major Esports events so that our readers can be in tune with the upcoming esports gaming season.

Genesis 9

The upcoming ninth installment of Genesis is not only a Major, but also a prestigious Supermajor for the Smash Melee community. Zain “Zain” Naghmi, the current top-ranked player, aims to secure his third consecutive Genesis title, following in the footsteps of the Melee legend Adam “Armada” Lindgren. Zain won both Genesis 7 in 2020 and Genesis 8 last year, cementing his position as the best Melee player in the world.

The tournament will feature a diverse group of contenders, including veteran players like Joseph “Mango” Marquez and Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma, as well as the emerging stars of 2022, such as Masaya “aMSa” Chikamoto, Cody “iBDW” Schwab, and Jake “Jmook” DiRado.

Apex Legends

The first global event of the ALGS 2022-23 season will see forty of the world’s top Apex Legends teams descending on London. DarkZero, the reigning champions from last season, will be returning but representing a new region, North America, instead of APAC South. The tournament will also feature other major contenders such as North America’s TSM, XSET, and The Guard, Europe’s Aurora Gaming and Pioneers, as well as APAC North’s Fnatic.

IEM, Katowice

Taking place in Katowice, Poland from January 31 to February 12, the annual 24-team CS:GO tournament is the first major event of the year. Last year, FaZe Clan kickstarted their dominant run by securing victory at Katowice, though their performance tapered off towards the end of the year. Other formidable teams that emerged later in 2022, such as Heroic, Outsiders, Team Vitality, Team Liquid, and G2 Esports, are also expected to contend for the title in Katowice, alongside FaZe and Natus Vincere.

Evo: Japan 2023

Evo: Japan, held in Tokyo, Japan from March 31 to April 2, may not be as big as the main Evo fighting game tournament held annually in Las Vegas, but it serves as a sneak peek of sorts for the summer event. The 2022 edition marks its return after being canceled in 2021. The tournament will feature seven popular fighting games, including Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, and Guilty Gear Strive. A new champion from Capcom Cup will try to win another major title in the Street Fighter competition.

League of Legends Mid- Season

May 2-21 will mark the return of Riot Games’ midseason international League of Legends tournament to Europe, with London hosting the event for the first time in history. This year’s tournament will feature more teams than previous years, with a double-elimination play-in and bracket stage. Thirteen teams will qualify for the competition, including the spring champions from all nine LoL esports regions and the runners-up from North America, Europe, China and Korea. China’s Royal Never Give Up is the defending champion, and Korea’s T1 is expected to be a strong contender if they qualify, having finished second in both MSI and Worlds last year.

Blast.tv Paris

Two CS:GO Majors are typically held each year, and the first one of 2023 will be hosted in Paris for the very first time. With a prize pool of $1.25 million, it is the largest amount offered for any CS:GO tournament announced for 2023 thus far. France’s Team Vitality, which won the second ESL Pro League in 2022, will have the home crowd advantage and should be among the top contenders. However, the complete list of contenders is expected to be clearer after IEM Katowice, where teams such as FaZe Clan, Natus Vincere, Heroic, Outsiders, G2 Esports, and Team Liquid are likely to be in the running among the 24-team field. The qualifiers are scheduled to begin in April.

This years tournaments are going to be big. We also have the factor of punters and many gamers going to the online betting websites to place predictions on the tournaments. Even if we cannot predict a tournament a 100% we can still speculate and try to win something based on the predictions we have made.
