Thrustmaster eSwapX2 PRO controller for Xbox

If it’s Xbox accessories with a twist that you want, then Thrustmaster seem likely to oblige. Having previously pushed out the highly moddable Thrustmaster eSwap X Pro Xbox controller, as well as a stunning Forza Horizon 5 Edition, Thrustmaster are back. And they are back with the ESWAP X 2 PRO in tow.

Building on the success of what Thrustmaster found in the eSwap XR Pro and eSwap X Pro is the Thrustmaster ESWAP X 2 PRO. This one has been put together with fighting games in mind. All as Thrustmaster consider the needs of some of the world’s best Fighting Games esports players. But don’t think it’s only for those fighters – the ESWAP X 2 PRO looks to help all players forge legend.

If it’s modular you want, it’s modular you are going to get with the ESWAP X 2 PRO. An all-new generation of controller, it holds all the features that were found in previous iterations of the controller. And that means you’ll be finding some hot swap capabilities, switching out sticks and buttons with absolute ease.

A new swappable controller

The new version improves though. There’s a longer lifespan on the mini-sticks, whilst the D-Pad has been reworked ergonimically. Further, the ESWAP X 2 PRO comes with USB-C (like absolutely ALL tech should), ensuring optimal connectivity, minimizing latency during gaming sessions and ensuring maximum responsiveness between pressing a button and the action in the game.

Further, mechanical buttons deliver some 65% faster action that standard membrane-based buttonry, whilst activation distances are about as low as you will find. Throw in some remappable back buttons and the ThrustmapperX software and you’ll be able to make this controller fit your exact needs.

But perhaps the biggest addition is the fighting module. Utilising previous Hot Swap tech, the ESWAP X 2 PRO will let you play with a 6-button config on the faceplate. Simplify linking up your combos with the addition of two extra buttons specially optimized for fighting games. You now have the ability to create a 6-button configuration on your ESWAP gamepad, providing maximum flexibility to master your movements and gain a competitive advantage over your opponents.

In summary

In all, key features include

  •  The ESWAP X2 lets users change and replace the buttons and toggles without any tools, with mechanical buttons 64% faster than standard membrane-based buttons
  • The mechanical D-pad has been developed in close collaboration with fighting game experts for optimised comfort, responsiveness and control
  • ESWAP X2 features two S5 NXG mini-stick modules, whose surgical precision is endorsed by renowned professional gamers
  • Four additional buttons on the back of ESWAP X2 can be remapped directly via the gamepad itself, or using the THRUSTMAPPERX software
  • Compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows

Sold? You’ll find the Thrustmaster ESWAP X 2 PRO available for some £149.99. The Fighting Module and D-IPPON D-Pad Module is also available for £26.99. The Thrustmaster official site will sort you out. It comes with a month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate too.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
