Fight for the Resistance or Join the The First Order as The Last Jedi makes its way to Star Wars Battlefront II

-

2026's Best Games

Star Wars Battlefront II may not have quite lived up to be the sequel we all hoped it would be when it arrived last month on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, but that doesn’t mean it’s a game we should all leave behind, and today marks the perfect opportunity to jump back in as The Last Jedi update brings fresh content to the FPS Star Wars adventure.

With Star Wars: The Last Jedi now on show in the big screens, it makes sense to see some kind of movie related content making its way to Star Wars Battlefront II, and the first of the new content is sure to be something that pleases players, with two all new characters joining the battle. Both new characters, Finn and Captain Phasma, are available now but better yet, you won’t need to be spending any credits to unlock them provided you jump into the game whilst the current season is active as they are unlocked straight away.

The next changes arriving with the latest update come in the form of new maps for the multiplayer side of the game. With new and authentic sounds, and high-fidelity visuals, both of the new locations bring to life some of the finest locations form The Last Jedi. The first new map – Crait, is available to play now within the 20 vs 20 Galactic Assault objective based game mode. Of course, if aerial combat is more your thing then the new map above the Resistance Base on tn the planet D’Qar will be sure to see players indulging in dogfights in the 12 vs 12 Starfighter Assault mode.

One of the more unique changes coming to Star Wars Battlefront II are the new recurring challenges that have been introduced on both individual and faction wide levels and will be linked to the choice you make when deciding to fight for the Resistance or The First Order, a choice which must be made upon starting The Last Jedi Season.

That’s not all however, and there is one final piece of content that is sure to spark interest amongst the gaming community for it’s unusual but welcome introduction. Star Wars Battlefront II Resurrection is the new single player campaign extension that continues the story of hero protagonist Iden Versio through the First Order’s rise to power. Resurrection will take place after the events of the games’ main single player campaign and introduces three all new chapters as Iden’s story continues as she uncovers the secrets of The First Order with events that lead into the Star Wars: The Last Jedi storyline.

Best of all, all the content mentioned above and all future DLC are entirely free, meaning you can jump into the experience right now for no extra cost at all.. Now that’s something we can all get behind.
