Hear the words ‘found footage’ and one thing comes to mind – The Blair Witch Project! This seminar piece of film set the foundations for dozens of similar horrors to follow, with the likes of Slenderman and Paranormal Activity being direct descendants of the 1999 classic. Now, Greyhill Incident: Abducted Edition on Xbox, PlayStation and PC wants a piece of the pie, throwing aliens into the mix.

Welcome to Greyhill

Greyhill may look like your classic ho-hum neighbourhood, but it is harbouring a dark secret: the residents believe that aliens live among them, and fear ratting to the police, as they may be sectioned as a result. In Greyhill Incident: Abducted Edition – releasing today on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 after dropping a few days ago on PC – you play as Ryan Baker, who is determined to venture across Greyhill, and help out a neighbour in grave danger.

Gun in hand, and with not much else, Ryan must navigate the foggy streets, and search within houses and barns for ammo and clues as to the whereabouts of his neighbour. Not only is Greyhill Incident thematically dark, but you’ll be hoping that someone puts their lights on – the village is incredibly dimly lit, only adding to the terror.

Extraterrestrials Among Us

Soon enough on your adventure, you’ll find that the residents were telling the truth. Aliens are in abundance within Greyhill, as are their vehicles – behemoths of flying ships that are as awe-inspiring as they are petrifying. There’s something about a flying saucer hovering overhead that is just so, so uneasy.

And the aliens that will jump out at you from every corner, sometimes ganging up, are of the classic variety – big foreheads, empty black eyes, and weird skinsuits. They will go down with a few gunshots, or some well-timed blows to the face with melee weapons, however they are best avoided; you can quickly become overwhelmed. Stick to the shadows, seek refuge from the few neighbours willing to talk, and spend some down-time solving puzzles to progress.

Features to keep an eye on

  • EXPERIENCE A CLASSIC ALIEN INVASION STORY – The recent increase paranormal activities over the last few days have convinced the scared and now paranoid residents of Greyhill, that the Aliens are amongst them. They trust no one. The small neighbourhood of Greyhill is afraid to speak up and fearing being sent to the psychiatric ward, they avoid calling the police. Alone, they prepare by boarding up their windows and start a neighbourhood watch.
  • GET ACROSS THE NEIGHBOURHOOD – Ryan Baker attempts cross the neighbourhood of Greyhill to save a neighbour who is in serious trouble. Find useful items, solve puzzles and you meet other humans as you fight to survive the invasion and guide Ryan through the Neighbourhood.
  • INVESTIGATE AND UNCOVER THE TRUTH – Sneak through the open areas of Greyhill. Investigate houses & barns and search for ammo while you work up your way through the village and uncover the Alien Conspiracy.
  • BEWARE OF THE GREYS – “They” are a constant threat as they try to abduct people from the village village, take samples of everything, and experiment, and probe people. Sneak, Run or fight to get through Greyhill and beware of “The Greys”.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
