roguebook launch

Previously only available as a PC (Steam) title, Roguebook, from the creator of Magic: The Gathering has today launched on Xbox and PlayStation – with a Nintendo Switch version following a little further down the line.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and obviously PC, Roguebook is a roguelike deckbuilder, one that has been put together by the minds of those behind the stunning Magic: The Gathering franchise.

It’s priced at £24.99 on Xbox Series X|S and £20.99 on Xbox One (yep, another Nacon title that requests players pay up twice, and yep, we don’t like it). There is however also another option – the Roguebook Deluxe Edition. Priced higher at £29.24, this is at least playable on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It also adds a host of further DLC, in the form of the Alternate Art Pack (£4.19), the Heroes Skins Pack (£4.19) and the Fugoro Pack (£4.19). Whichever option you take, it sees you thrust into the pages of the Book of Lore of Faeria. It’s in this book where each page represents a bit of a challenge, tasking you to build synergies between the cards you have to play with, your talents and the treasures at hand.

With legendary heroes to play as and the chance to build your deck from 200 cards, eighty-odd relics and thirty different gem types, the chance to that you ever play the same deck twice is next to zero. What you do play though looks to be brilliant, with everything coming together to shed light on the mysteries of the Roguebook and the various difficulty levels that it contains within.

Key features include:

  • * LEGENDARY HEROES – Create a team of two heroes, each with their own cards and abilities. Combine their strengths to defeat over 40 bosses and enemies.
  • * BUILD YOUR DECK AS YOU PLAY – Choose wisely from 200 cards, 80 relics and 30 gems that can be combined. You will never play with the same deck twice.
  • * THE BOOK CHANGES EACH TIME YOU OPEN IT – It’s up to you to reveal the Roguebook’s mysteries with the ingenious ink system.
  • * EACH RUN COUNTS – Train your heroes and earn new cards and relics to take on the 20 difficulty levels in the Roguebook.

A year’s worth of Very Positive Steam reviews points to Roguebook being of the utmost quality and we’re keen to see how this plays on Xbox and PlayStation. It’ll be the Xbox Series X|S version that we go hands-on with for review purposes. Stay tuned for those thoughts real soon.

For now, the Xbox Store will provide the download of Roguebook that you need. It’s on PlayStation and PC (Steam) too.

Game Description:

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
