It’s been rolling around on other formats for some time, but finally we see the fun little Funtasia make moves onto Xbox. If you’re in the market for a hill climber with a difference, this is surely going to be one to check out.Â
Funtasia comes from the Freedom Games and Fantastico Studios teams. It provides a new take on the age-old side scrolling driver. From the same development stable as the highly addictive Hero Express, we’re expecting big things from Funtasia, as we try and try to make it to the end of numerous stages.Â
Fun hill climbing on Xbox
If you’re unfamiliar with the genre, then it’s all very simple. You can put behind the wheel of a vehicle, tasked with making it as far along the road as you possibly can. Obstacles get in your way, hills will slow you down, quicksand will stop you dead in your tracks. And that all means that there’s a chance that your first run will end in failure. And probably your second, and third.
Only by failing will you find the opportunity to fix up your vehicles in the best possible way, heading to the garage and implementing a host of upgrades. Balancing gas needs with brakes and more, only by rinsing and repeating will you find success.
As mentioned, Hero Express is probably the closest you’re going to find to Funtasia. It’s just that this one has you powering along through an ecologically sustainable world. Why? Well, you’re attempting to save some furries from death.Â

Honestly, we’ve been pretty addicted to these hill climb style games for a few years. That means we will be well up for a play through Funtasia on Xbox for the usual review process. Stay tuned for our thoughts in the coming days.Â
For now though, head to the world of Funtasia via the Xbox Store. It’s playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, fully optimised for the latter. A £12.49 price point may just about be low enough to tempt you in.Â
You can also play on Steam or Switch if you would prefer.
Funtasia on Xbox Game Description
It’s time to take a drive on the Furry Road! Funtasia is a side-scrolling, 2D racing game where the goal is simple: Drive as fast as possible to reach the finish line. Help save the beautiful, ecologically sustainable world of Funtasia and its furry inhabitants from certain death beneath tons of garbage dumped on it from space by defeating the garbage monster at the end of the track.
Simple to pick up and play, yet challenging to truly master, Funtasia is all about timing and balance. The race track ripples, with hills, pits, bridges, quicksand, cliffs, and caves separating you from the finish line. Reaching the finish line requires balancing gas, brakes, and the car itself, just right (drivers do not enjoy meeting hard surfaces face-first at a hundred KPH, nor do doctors recommend it).
Oh, and keep in mind that there’s no stopping, there’s only going really, really fast. Breaks are for cowards. The car’s battery isn’t known for its lifespan!
