2026's Best Games

SokoWinter is on Xbox

There are a host of sokoban styled puzzlers available on Xbox consoles. And they cover a huge range of themes. There’s Sokocat – Combo, SokoBunny and even the bright and colourful Sokolor. And now there’s SokoWinter.

A new soko-slider

Available as the latest on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S from the QUByte Interactive is SokoWinter. A box slider that comes with the most slippery of floors, if you are at all familiar with any of the previous sokoban games, you’ll be right at home with this one.

The whole winter theme seems to fit this one nicely. Ice floors will see you shifting huge ice blocks from pillar to post, all in order to complete the stage in hand. And with those building in complexity and difficulty as you go, slowly and surely you’ll begin to get your head around what is on offer.

Some 100 stages are available in SokoWinter on Xbox, with unlockable penguin protagonists helping you shift those blocks. From there, it all feels very familiar. Push blocks, over and over again.

Buy and play now

Strangely, those sokoban stylings are something that we keep getting drawn to, and will no doubt drop into the world of SokoWinter on Xbox real soon. We’ll let you know how it goes in full review.

For now, slide your way onto the Xbox Store and pick up a download. It’s priced well at ÂŁ4.19 and is playable across Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

SokoWinter on Xbox Game Description

SokoWinter is a puzzle game with slippery floors. You will have the opportunity to get to know one of the curious hobbies of four stylish penguins: pushing large ice cubes. Why do they like this activity so much? Well, that we don’t know, as our knowledge of penguins is limited…

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
