The likes of Forza and DiRT might be solid racing sims that we can all enjoy on Xbox One, but sometimes you just want to let loose with your friends in exhilarating combat racing. GRIP: Combat Racing – out today on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch – will let you do just that!
From the moment the lights turn green in each and every race in GRIP, you will be instantly thrust into a wacky anti-gravity sci-fi world where one press of the accelerator will see your vehicle burst off at a near light-speed velocity. Using all four of your wheels in conjunction with a streamlined vehicle chassis, moving across the floor, walls and even ceiling will be integral to crossing the finish line first, as will utilising a number of powerups that either boost your own vehicle or hinder an opponent’s. That is where the ‘combat racing’ in the extended title of GRIP really comes into play. Real kill or be killed stuff.
But for many racers the proof is in the multiplayer, and whilst there is a solo-campaign present, GRIP caters for both the local and online multiplayer audiences. For the former, up to 4 players can engage in fast-paced split-screen play, and online up to 10 players can take part in a race across one of the 22 unique tracks.
If you manage to slow down enough to grab a quick glance, you will see that these tracks are beautifully made, integrating sci-fi and apocalyptic themes into the realistic Xbox One X Enhanced visuals.
That’s pretty much your package with GRIP – a variety of tracks, different modes and fast-paced combat racing. If you fancy picking it up then you can do so on Xbox One for £34.99, as well as on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. It’s also available as an Xbox Game Pass title too so if you are subscribed to that, then checking out Grip: Combat Racing is a no-brainer.
You can add to that a Digital Deluxe Edition of GRIP too. It’ll set you back a cool £42.99 but brings in an exclusive Nyvoss Hex Pack and all launch vehicle customisations from the get-go. You can also pick up the Terra, Vintek, Nyvoss and Cygon Garage Kits for £1.59 each, whilst the Pariah Garage Kit is a free download
