Orbit Studio and Super.com – who recently published the beautiful Raji: An Ancient Epic – want to introduce the lonely world, long forgotten by humanity, of the upcoming retro-futuristic action-puzzle adventure Retro Machina. You’ll be able to explore the robot-filled world, uncovering its mysteries, on PC and consoles early next year.
In Retro Machina, prepare to take on the role of a solitary worker drone, labeled by the robot society as a malfunctioning unit and banished from his home. Equipped with the ability to control other machines, the protagonist must use all of the tools at his disposal to not only rebuild himself, but also find out if any intelligent life remains in Endeavour City. As such, you must explore the barren, disintegrating maze-like terrain, overcome the harsh environment, and take control of deadly antagonistic automatons. This is the only way to discover the mysteries of the world and the origins of its only remaining city.
As the only surviving city of a long-dead world, Endeavour City has for centuries existed as a robot utopia, following a strict set of rules and processes, which enabled it to maintain its perfection. To all its inhabitants, the city under a great glass dome is as it was from the start, but something in the crumbling towers and overgrown roadways seems off to this one, malfunctioning robot of ours. Thus, he embarks upon this adventure to solve the mysterious nature of it all.
Set in a vibrant hand-drawn avant-garde retro-futuristic environment, Retro Machina draws inspiration from the works of science fiction’s foremost authors – Isaac Asimov (The ‘Foundation’ series) and Arthur C. Clarke (2001: A Space Odyssey). And you are invited to explore the four diverse biomes, each with their own unique aesthetic and vicious bosses, in the early part of 2021. For that’s when Retro Machina is slated for a release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
