It’s all about the journey as 2 more games land in Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass gets more games

The Game Pass additions just keep dropping and, on the back of a couple of surprise drops yesterday, we find another two new arrivals on the service.

MORE games on Game Pass?

It’s been a big couple of days for Game Pass subscribers, whether that be on Xbox or PC. See, as the end of November rolled in, no less than 7 games were removed from the service. It’s something we have become used to over the years, with end of month switch ups commonplace. But to compensate for those games which disappeared, a couple of surprise drops hit home.

Those surprises came in the form of a couple of Remnant games – the original Remnant: From the Ashes and the follow-up, Remnant II. Frankly, they are two titles you should be playing at the very earliest opportunity.

But there’s more Game Pass joy today with another couple of games arriving on the scene. Yet again, the quality is high in both of them too, as Spirit of the North and SteamWorld Build are now accessible through the subscription scheme.

Spirit of the North

It was some two years ago in which we reviewed Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition.

A third person, single player adventure, it whisked us off to the bright Icelandic lights, following a small fox. It was the journey which played out that we absolutely adored, giving it a 3.5/5 in review. Highlights were the journey itself, as well as the whole atmosphere and vibe.

Frustrations in the platforming couldn’t knock this one down too much and so it feels like a no-brainer to play now that Spirit of the North is in Game Pass.

The journey, atmosphere, and concept of Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition are all fantastic, as is the setting and the visuals. It’s a shame that the platforming elements are at times frustrating in regards the accuracy and weight of the fox, and some of the animations don’t work as planned, but this is still a very unique and endearing experience.

Grab Spirit of the North: Enhanced Ediiton from the Xbox Store.

SteamWorld Build

And then we can also say hello to SteamWorld Build, the latest in the SteamWorld line, but one that looks to ooze in quality terms.

SteamWorld Build is in our most anticipated games for December 2023 list. And there’s good reason for that as it combines city building with underground adventuring, all mixed with that iconic, glorious SteamWorld vibe.

If you have played SteamWorld games previously, then we think you should be getting involved in what Thunderful have created in this one. The Game Pass Day One debut makes it an even more intriguing prospect.

Stick around for our full review of SteamWorld Build in the coming days. But for now you can grab SteamWorld Dig from the Xbox Store. The Wild West may never have been more appealing.

What’s next for Game Pass subscribers?

December 2023 is looking to be a cracking month for Game Pass subscribers, whether that be on Xbox or PC. Continuing the excitement in the coming days will be the arrival of Clone Drone in the Danger Zone, While the Iron’s Hot, World War Z: Aftermath and Rise of the Tomb Raider on the 5th. Yep, four games being added in one day.

Further to that is the drop of Goat Simulator 3 on the 7th, Against the Storm (PC only) on the 8th and the cracking little puzzler of Tin Hearts on the 12th. Rounding out the first half of December’s new additions is a biggy – Far Cry 6 on the 14th.

There’s more to follow from there too as Game Pass Core members see Chivalry 2 and Totally Reliable Delivery Service pop up on the 6th too!

What is leaving Game Pass?

With all those additions, we should expect some games to be removed. And that’s the case on December 15th – Chained Echoes, Opus Magnum, Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator and Rubber Bandits all shift out.

And remember, that’s just the start of things! Expect further movers and shakers in the second half of December too.

Today though is all about the arrival of Spirit of the North and SteamWorld Build into Game Pass. Which will you be playing first?
