Blood Bowl 3 – the fourth edition of the iconic American football x Warhammer sports title – released back in February of this year to somewhat mixed reviews. It is currently sitting on a 51 on Metacritic. With today’s release of Season 1 of Blood Bowl 3, bringing with it a host of new features and content, developers Cyanide Studio will be hoping to reignite interest in the title.

Coming as a free update to all owners of Blood Bowl 3 on Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms, perhaps the most notable inclusion in Season 1 is that of a competitive mode for those players who wish to rank up against other players.
This mode will come with an official Ladder to progress up, as well as a number of management features that will allow you to take your crack-team of orcs, elves and the like from the relative obscurity of the amateur leagues, to the top of the sport.
This only serves to take Blood Bowl 3, which was already a very tactical and strategic title, to the next level in terms of adjustments you can make to your plays. Madden NFL 23, eat ya’ heart out!
Introducing… the Lizardmen!
In addition to the already large roster of races that you can add into your Blood Bowl 3 team, Season 1 is introducing the Lizardmen to all players.
This scaly new race consists surprisingly of both sturdy defenders to stop oncoming attacks, as well as nippy and agile attackers. Whilst their passing is certainly not the best, a knowledgeable manager will surely be able to make the most of their unique attributes.
The Lizardmen will be available to all players as part of the Season 1 update, as will the free Blood Pass. This is a Battle Pass-esque system that will serve as a way for you to progress in Blood Bowl 3, with all-new cosmetics to kit out your roster with. There will also be a Premium Blood Pass that you can purchase, which will throw in some extra goodies, should you progress enough to unlock them.
