The ability to explore a near-endless number of planets and solar systems in space exploration has gripped audiences for years now, with No Man’s Sky and Starfield dominating the landscape currently. Now, Nova Lands on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC looks to carve out an indie niche in this genre.
All-New Base-Building
Releasing on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC platforms, developers BEHEMUTT have likened their new inter-galactic base-builder to the likes of Factorio, as opposed to the AAA titles previously mentioned.
And the resemblance is clear: Nova Lands is an expansive, 2D open-world base-builder that sees you land on a brand new planet. Until some friends turn up, all you can do is farm resources, craft new buildings and expand your society. As more humans pull up to the biggest party on the planet, you’ll soon see your colony expand exponentially – some of the communities that the playerbase will create will surely be nothing short of incredible.
Frantic Combat
Of course, your race is not alone in this uncharted land, with a whole host of creepies and crawlies threatening to end your life as you travel. With fast, frantic combat alike to Enter the Gungeon, you’ll be blasting and dodging around your enemies, putting in some incoming fire when you get a second.
Where massive boss creatures enter the picture, however, Nova Lands on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC does offer up the pacifist route. There’s always the option to gift boss creatures valuable items, in return for your safety. Otherwise, be prepared for a long and arduous battle.

- BASE BUILDING – New planet, new home. Build your new base with all sorts of resources available to you, from basic rocks and wood to rare and unknown materials. Unlock new possibilities with every new building, maximize efficiency, and push deeper to other islands.
- AUTOMATION – As you progress through the game, you will be able to automate more and more things, freeing up more time to explore! Your little helper bots will be instrumental in helping you do that.
- WHAT ARE THE BOTS? – The bots are the tipping point where your ingenuity will begin to shine. These little self-sufficient machines can form entire production chains and sustain your industry all on its own. They’re easy to set up and manage.
- THE ISLANDS AND EXPLORATION – Just like you’re not the only person to land on this planet, your started island is one of many! Kickstart your industry to get all the tech you need and comfortably explore other islands. You’ll come across various biomes, creatures, landmarks, caves, and some really important people…
- COMBAT – Of course, there’s a blaster you can fire, and critters large enough to be a real menace! Engage in combat and gather rare materials, or, go the full pacifist route and remain a kind guest to this planet – even when boss creatures are concerned. Be prepared to offer valuables to make peace with them, however.
