We’ll admit to it being many a year since we last crossed paths with The Humans. But that doesn’t mean we’re not excited to see an old-school classic rock up onto Xbox and Nintendo Switch, with this one doing so under the QUByte Classics – The Humans by PIKO moniker.
Having first launched way back in 1992 – and yes, we’re easily old enough to remember it first time around, spending time with it on our Amiga – The Humans is a puzzler that is very similar in type to the iconic and inimitable Lemmings. It’s just this time around, you are looking to manipulate the movement of humans.
It comes to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch via the QUByte team, as the latest title to come under the Classics by PIKO brand (following on from The Immortal a few months back), with hope that it can still find some love in the modern day scene.
Priced at £6.69 on Xbox and a little more expensive £6.99 on Switch, QUByte Classics – The Humans by PIKO certainly doesn’t look to have been remastered or reimagined, from the trailers and screens this is a port that has found a way into the present time.
Admittedly that may be enough to immediately turn some players away, but stick at it and you’ll find a fun little puzzler hidden underneath. Your goal in this is to control an army of humans as they look to solve puzzles and complete levels, and as this is Stone Age man-era, dinosaurs are present too. And yeah, that may be pushing historical accuracies a little far, but back in 1992 artistic licence was rife.
On the whole, if you’re in the market for a puzzler and fancy checking out something from the early years of gaming, then it’s quite possibly going to be worth your time in checking out QUByte Classics – The Humans by PIKO. The Xbox Store will sort you out with an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S download, whilst the Nintendo eShop will do similar for those on Switch.
We’ll get a review out soon too.
