Afterlove EP is coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC

Are you ready to experience a heart-warming story? One of love, loss, and music? Afterlove EP from the creator of Coffee Talk is coming.

Fellow Traveller and Pikselnesia (an Indonesian studio) have today confirmed that Afterlove EP will be releasing onto Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC later in 2024. But if you can’t wait, there’s a demo kicking around on Steam from today until May 13th.

The LudoNarraCon love

Announced at the publisher’s LudoNarraCon festival, Afterlove EP is set in the bustling city of modern-day Jakarta. It’s here where we get to follow the story of a young musician named Rama, who finds himself lost after his girlfriend Cinta unexpectedly passes away. While his friends and bandmates rally by his side, Rama struggles to let go of the world he shared with Cinta. With her voice inside his head (literally!), Rama will be faced with the daunting task of moving on, finishing his first ever EP, and perhaps even finding love again.

Playing out as a slice-of-life game, Afterlove EP is the vision of Mohammad Fahmi, the creator of the beloved Coffee Talk series. It was his passing in 2022 that has led the Pikselnesia team to honor his legacy and bring his dream for the game to life. They’ll do so with a game that features a colorful mixtape of genres, taking inspiration from dating sims, rhythm games and narrative adventures.

Through Rama’s shoes, players will experience the vibrant culture of Indonesia, explore real-life locations within Jakarta, socialize with friends, and make story-affecting choices.

Indonesian inspired

And that Jakarta is brought to life with stunning manga-inspired art from renowned Indonesian artist Soyatu, who depicts Rama’s journey with hand-drawn character designs and authentic cultural landmarks.

Afterlove EP also showcases an emotional original soundtrack from the indie band L’alphalpha, with songs written and performed in Indonesian, with English translations included.

You will want to play too, as the all-Indonesian team strives to highlight Indonesia’s unique culture and authentically showcase local talent in game development, art and music. Afterlove EP pays homage to Fahmi’s work, thanks to the efforts of the Pikselnesia team that have carried on to share his legacy with the rest of the world.

Want to get involved? Head over to the Steam page and give the demo for Afterlove EP a go. You can wishlist if you like too. From there, you’ll need to hold tight for the release on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC later in the year.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
