The year is 1992. Action gaming, and perhaps the industry as a whole, has just been revolutionised by the release of Flashback. This is an ambitious 2D shooter, that blends classic platforming action with shooting combat. Now the year is 2023, and Microids – in collaboration with the game’s original developer, Paul Cuisset – have released a brand new trailer for Flashback 2 on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.
Welcome to New Washington
With Microids previously showing off the jungle of Titan, this trailer is set within the dirty cyberpunk city of New Washington. The city immediately reminds us of 2021’s The Ascent, and of course Cyberpunk 2077.
Flashback 2 takes players to a dystopian interpretation of the 22nd Century, where Conrad B. Hart is attempting to find his missing friend, Ian, and along the way gets wrapped up in an interplanetary conspiracy. This involves the alien invasion of the Morph, led by the petrifying General Lazarus. It is up to Conrad and co. to stop Lazarus, with the help of revolutionary AI technology known as A.I.S.H.A.
Flashback 2 will have players enthralled in an action-packed third-person shooter, in which Conrad makes use of a number of high-tech abilities and weapons to dispose of his foes. The development team is also full of original Flashback devs, such as Composer Raphaël Gesqua, and Game Designer Thierry Perreau.
