One of the main draws of modern day gaming comes in the opportunities allowed by developers to amend their game after it is in the public domain. Whether that be through a patch to fix things, or as content updates, keeping things fresh is relatively simple. That’s the case for EA and Codemasters with their F1 23 title – today some all new F1 World content, Pro Challenges and more hit the game. As does the returning Daniel Ricciardo.
F1 23 welcomes Daniel Ricciardo
Available through the latest update for F1 23 is the return of Danny Ric, as the Aussie takes up residence in Alpha Tauri. Replacing Nyck de Vries, you’ll now discover the opportunity to grab the wheel as Ricciardo, whilst that same update also drops an amended layout to the Singapore Marina Bay circuit.
Further, the third driver ratings update will follow on September 19th, updating profiles to match real-life performance.
Before that though comes new F1 World content and Pro Challenges. With the F1 circus heading to Circuit Zandvoort this weekend, it feels right for things to centre on that. It’s here where the game will launch its first two ‘Pro Challenges’. This allows fans to go wheel-to-wheel with EA SPORTS ambassadors Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc in ghost lap time trials. Max Verstappen sets the challenge in a new video (watch it below) and invites players to race against him at Circuit Zandvoort.
Pro Challenges were always the plan
From August 29th to September 4th, fans can go head-to-head with back-to-back World Champion Max Verstappen in an intense lap time trial. With Verstappen setting the bar high, players who beat his time of 1:10:621 will earn his special FORMULA 1 DUTCH GRAND PRIX 2023 helmet in-game to recognise their victory.
And then on September 5th you’ll be beckoned to surpass the lap time set by Charles Leclerc, to win a special Scuderia Ferrari item for the FORMULA 1 PIRELLI GRAN PREMIO D’ITALIA 2023.
“We are beyond thrilled with the launch of the new ‘Pro Challenge’ feature in ‘F1® World’. Giving players the opportunity to directly engage and compete against their favourite drivers in game is something we always wanted to deliver,” said Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. “’F1® World’ will continue to evolve, creating more moments for players to test their virtual racing skills against their real-world heroes.”

There’s more though. Additional F1 World challenges will be available throughout September including five ‘F1 Replay’ events, and new studio-curated Scenario Events featuring Valtteri Bottas, Logan Sargeant and Lando Norris to test even the most seasoned veteran. Expect further regular gameplay updates, earning players exclusive team and seasonal rewards, including special edition items like the recently added the Alfa Romeo F1 Team x BOOGIE Art Livery.
If you’ve not yet played F1 23 on Xbox, PlayStation or PC, then we highly advise you get involved right now. EA and Codemasters have created a great F1 experience here so make sure you hit up the likes of the Xbox Store to nail a download.
