2026's Best Games

It’s only been a month or so since WRC 9 hit the starting line on Xbox One, PS4 and PC via the Epic Games Store, but already the teams at NACON and KT Racing are pushing out further goodies. The best thing about them? They are free!

The first free update for WRC 9 is now with us and no matter whether you are playing the game on Xbox One, PS4 or PC, you can now get access to some exciting new content, including a variety of special stages, a new driver and that all-important Photo Mode.

This will see no less than six new special stages introduced for WRC 9, with these added to the iconic Neste Rally Finland, the fastest rally of the season. More so than ever before, the challenge here becomes a considerable one full of blind jumps. You’ll need to rely on your co-driver more than before.

Further to that though and WRC 9 also welcomes in New Zealand’s Hayden Paddon and his co-driver John Kennard, putting them behind the wheel of the celebrated Hyundai i20 WRC. And finally, WRC 9 now has a Photo Mode which can be utilised by all wishing to share their favourite moments in some of the most beautiful landscapes around the world.

When you consider that WRC 9 launched with more than 50 official teams from across the WRC, WRC 2, WRC 3 and Junior WRC, has a number of rallies with new routes in Japan, New Zealand and Kenya, and provides access to a brand new Clubs mode alongside a ton of technical improvements, and with the introduction of this first free update, there is next to no reason to not jump behind the wheel.

WRC 9 will soon receive a second free update too, and this will include the highly anticipated Co-driver Mode. Keep an eye out for details surrounding that soon.

If you wish to pick up WRC 9, the Xbox Store will sort out Xbox One players. It’s also available on PS4 and PC, whilst Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch drops will occur later down the line.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
