Playwing are set to launch Season 2 of their free-to-play competitive dragon shooter, Century: Age of Ashes – and it comes with a whole new Rider Class and other goodies.

It’s coming on March 21st for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC as the new seasonal experience, entitled “The Fate of Dragons,” introduces a brand new dragon-riding warrior class, the Thornweaver, and a themed map, Eilean CĂ irn, as well as a plethora of rewards through a refreshed Battle Pass system.

“The Fate of Dragons” tells the story of two worlds colliding, as dragons and humans struggle to maintain a sacred balance that has been woven for centuries out of respect and necessity for each other. Players will explore the events through the point of view of the new Thornweaver class, an archetype of the Elf that boasts devastating agility, area-controlled gameplay mechanics, and menacing nature-infused powers. The class comes with its own new species of dragons and an array of highly-detailed customization items, including majestic head alternatives, additional scepters, armours, capes, and more, which can be earned via the Dragon Pass or purchased in-game.

The Dragon Pass is Century’s Battle Pass system, and it is this which will be replenished with over seventy new rewards, exclusive dragons, complete rider outfits, unique weapons, player customizations, and consumables, which can be unlocked as players progress through tiers. Additionally, a new leveling system has been introduced, allowing dragoneers to complete missions and earn levels and stars. The Lore Books will also be updated to offer players a deeper understanding of the lore and story behind the current season.

The HĂĽnavatn Lake Map, a player favourite, will see a complete overhaul with a signature fantasy design, offering open areas for high-speed chases, tunnels for close quarter combat, air flow boosts, and hiding areas for dragoneers to engage in their chosen battle patterns.

As the season unfolds, Century: Age Of Ashes will see a new ranked season for competitive players and additional features, such as rage move reworks and quality of life improvements, to provide a more immersive in-game experience.

Century: Age of Ashes is available to download for free on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, Microsoft, and Epic Games Store. It’s a game that first launched a year ago, gathering up a 4/5 score from us in review. If you’re up for something that delivers on the visuals, in the gameplay and as the ultimate power fantasy scratch, you could do a ton worse.

Get over to the Xbox Store if you haven’t yet downloaded the game on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
