Ever played a roguelite toothpunk bullet hell? Nah, us neither, but we’re willing to give it a go as Cavity Busters drills down onto Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Available today for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch players to enjoy is Cavity Busters. This is sold as a roguelite toothpunk bullet hell affair, created by the solo dev at SpaceMyFriend, before being picked up and pushed out to the world by those at JanduSoft.

If you’ve never heard of a toothpunk bullet hell before, then join the club. But we’re intrigued to find out more about what makes Cavity Busters tick. It seems to focus on you taking charge of Gummy The Soft, a single tooth who feel from The Great Gob. From there you’re tasked with chomping and biting your way through a whole ton of enemy waves, facing up against the likes of the Pearly Knights in order to prove your worth.

Chomping down on cavity infested enemies is just the start of it though and in Cavity Busters you’ll be found wall running, bullet dodging, power-up collecting and more, as you go and dig your way through a body. With upgrades galore – you’re looking at 280 of them included here – and hundreds of handcrafted rooms, Cavity Busters seems rich on the old content front, especially when you put it up against the £10.49 asking price at the Xbox Store.

Let us give you the key feature list in hope of a hard sell…

  • – 280 upgrades to aid or hinder your run. Take a diseased upgrade and risk being able to cure the disease to keep only the positive effects
  • – Boss fights with multiple phases and attacks to keep you on your gums
  • – Hundreds of handcrafted rooms and a new body to explore every time you die
  • – Challenging rewarding skill based combat. No permanent stat upgrades
  • – Slow motion
  • – Accessibility options

Cavity Busters can be grabbed from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with the game fully optimised for new-gen consoles and coming with Smart Delivery in place. It’s also on PlayStation and Switch should you prefer those formats.

Keep an eye out for our review.

Game Description:

Take control of Gummy The Soft, whose fall from The Great Gob was far and hard. Chomp your way through tough as teeth enemies and face the dreaded Pearly Knights, a true test of your enam-mettle. Collect upgrades AND diseases to enhance your agility and control over your one and only tooth. Brush and floss daily.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
