Releasing today on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC platforms, WrestleQuest sees you take a lowly rookie fighter through the ranks, and become a true icon of the sport.
We’ve been lucky enough to have been hands-on with Wrestlequest so make sure you take in our review; we’ve enjoyed this wrestling title with storytelling at the forefront. A most exciting feature of the title is the fact that you will be trained by, and fight alongside, a number of legends of the sport. Whether it is Macho Man Randy Savage, Andre the Giant, or Jake the Snake Roberts, WrestleQuest will first let you be trained by these fighters, and then use them as summons in battles.
Instead of an all-out brawl, WrestleQuest’s combat is in a turn-based format. Deploying a number of abilities you have learnt in training, you must figure out when to deplete your enemies’ health bars, and when to stay back and defend. A pin can take place when an enemy is weak enough, spelling victory for yourself.
Special abilities come in the form of the aforementioned summons, with Andre picking up the stage and performing a crushing blow to your opponents, for example. The potential is there for some real synergy between your wrestler and your summons.
Wrestling Robots?
It’s not just the human race that will receive one of your piledrivers. Lizards, robots and monsters will all be on the menu across a variety of wacky, colourful stages. Many worlds are based on the career of certain real-world wrestlers, only emphasising the fan-service WrestleQuest offers.
Throw in the opportunity to fully customise your moveset, taunts and entrances, and what we have here is a fantastically silly wrestling game for both mega-fans and rookies to equally enjoy.
