Ever wanted to kick some butt, take some names, and pound some punks? You’ll be doing all of that and a ton more when River City Girls launches on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC very soon!
Coming via the development and publishing team at WayForward – they behind the Shantae series – River City Girls offers up a new generation of old school action as the cooperative beat ’em up prepares to fly forward with a launch on Xbox One, PS4 Nintendo Switch and PC come September 5th 2019.
With the WayForward development process overseen by the fighting-game experts at Arc System Works, this latest entry in the long-running River City (AKA Kunio-Kun) franchise stars Kyoko and Misako, two street-tough high-schoolers who must fight their way through the six regions of River City to rescue their kidnapped boyfriends – series mainstays Kunio and Riki.
As you may well expect though, it won’t be a walk in the park and along the way, you’ll need to help them utilize an arsenal of combos, counters, throws, and special attacks, all as you battle an assortment of enemies. Further still, you’ll get the opportunity to accept numerous side quests, level up with experience points, interact with NPCs (including guest stars from past River City games), and even partake in a bit of shopping for a variety of items, food, and gear to boost stats and unlock new abilities. Hell, the girls can even wield weapons and recruit defeated foes to join them in combat!
Running as either a solo or local two-player bare-knuckle brawler, River City Girls will come with a spectacular 16-bit visual style and an epic synth-pop soundtrack that features NateWantsToBattle, Chipzel, Christina Vee, and Megan McDuffee! WayForward are promising that the story itself will roar to life via glorious anime cutscenes and manga-style intermissions.
Key features of River City Girls include:
- Furious beat-’em-up action for one or two players!
- Stunning pixel-art graphics plus anime and manga cutscenes!
