Something has happened to Square Enix this year; their productivity has increased quite substantially. Whether they’ve been drinking energy drinks or just eating more Weetabix, their output has significantly improved. Xbox owners aren’t seeing all the fruits of their labour but here is one at least. The DioField Chronicle launches today on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Coming from one of the forefathers of tactical RPGs is their latest and greatest. The DioField Chronicle is a modern reinvention of the genre. A grid-like map is removed, and real-time elements are introduced.
There is a war going on between the Alliance and the Empire on the mainland. You are part of an army that resides on an island just off the mainland, that is known for an abundance of Jade. You feel however, as this war draws a close, attention will soon focus on your homeland, so it is time to prepare.
The DioField Chronicle also features:
- An all-new Strategy RPG that chronicles an epic tale of war and honour. Featuring a unique and beautiful world that blends fantasy, medieval and modern-day influences, and a deep yet innovative real-time battle system.
- Deep, strategic, real-time tactical battles. The battles in this game are defined by real-time assessment of battlefield conditions and issuing decisive orders that take advantage of your troops strengths and weaknesses to gain advantage over your foe. Make clever use of a variety of skills, classes and equipment to complete your mission.
- Realistic “diorama” style battle scenes. Richly detailed depictions of the environments of the island of DioField combined with unique “diorama” style visuals as you command your forces like a general.
The DioField Chronicle is on the Xbox Store now, with a couple of option. The base game is available for £49.99 and comes with the Rhopasto Knife weapon and Recruit’s Bangle accessory. There is also the Digitale Deluxe Edition for £59.99 that comes with all the above, along with the Knight’s Spear weapon, Mystical Ring accessory, original soundtrack by Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell and a digital artbook.
A gritty and immersive story brought to life with the latest technology. Introducing “Real Time Tactical Battle” (RTTB), a new, deeply strategic, real-time battle system. The beginnings of a new Strategy RPG, crafted by a skilled and experienced development team.
