Having previously launched across PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch, the medieval open-world tactical RPG joys of Wartales begin to take place on Xbox, utilising the power of Game Pass as it goes. 

Breaking out onto Xbox and Game Pass

Coming from the Shiro Unlimited team, Wartales will invite you in to the chance to lead your troop to glory, partaking in a bit of mercenary life as you go. It’s here where you’ll need to recruit a bunch of folk, turning them into hardened fighters, all in hope of keeping their pockets lined with gold. 

Wartales launches on Xbox and Game Pass with a £33.49 price tag in place. Of course, should you prefer to utilise the power of your Game Pass subscription, you may do so. 

However you play, expect to try and survive by any means necessary, accepting quests and succeeding in challenging turned-based clashes. You’ll get to hold your own against wild animals, calculating crooks, and corrupt peacekeepers, all whilst tactfully positioning party members to execute the perfect kill.

A journey onwards

Trekking onwards acros snow-capped mountains and bustling kingdoms will allow you to uncover the most grave of mysteries. From there, you’ll need to set up camp for the night to address the needs of the group: treating wounds, repairing armor, training sellswords, and eating a warm meal.

Of course, for success, you’ll need to prepare. Upgrade stats using skill points for each comrade and craft new weapons and shields to prepare for the next adventure. Travel through several regions on an everlasting journey to achieve a life filled with gold and infamy in this treacherous realm. 

In Wartales, alliances are crucial for the warband’s survival. As it launches on Xbox and Game Pass, you’ll be able to team up with up to three other trusted comrades in four-player co-op, complete with crossplay capabilities. And this one will work across Xbox and PC too, allowing you the opportunity to freely immerse in the content-rich open world on either platform simultaneously with the convenient cross-save feature.
