“Choose your hero. Destroy the stones! Defeat the Revenant!” This is your call to embark upon an epic quest within Stones of the Revenant – the premiere title from ChickenCat Games that has now launched on Xbox One.
Hope you are feeling nostalgic, because this action-platforming, beat-em-up definitely nails those retro vibes. From the music, to the combat, to the pixelated visuals, the developers are clearly attempting to evoke some classic gameplay. Though, there are plenty of modern flourishes as well. Some of the game’s playable characters have powerful and unique abilities that you definitely did not see back in the day.
Speaking of characters, there are a total of six to play as and choose from. Each one has its own unique playstyle and set of skills. Will you play as Halvar the Barbarian and bash through enemies? Perhaps you can try Galina the Ranger and pick away at foes from a distance. Maybe Frits the Tinkerer and his shotgun are the way you will choose to handle things. If you are having trouble deciding, it might be easier to choose two characters–one for you to play as, and one for whoever you choose to have play the game’s local co-op mode with you.
If embarking upon a journey to save the souls of the living sounds exciting to you, now is the time to get involved. Stones of the Revenant is now on the Xbox One for a cost of £8.39 and is also available over on Nintendo Switch. You’ll soon find it coming to PC through Steam on September 9th too.
