You thought it was tough being a Princess? Taking to the throne as Queen is a whole lot harder.

Long Live The Queen is the latest title to come from the prolific Ratalaika Games team, as they work with Hanako Games to provide players on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch the opportunity to rise to the throne, taking a young Princess to coronation.

It’s a game that plays out as a visual novel – a pretty good looking one at that – as Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch gamers look to ensure the story being told ends in a fairytale.

Priced at £9.99, Long Live The Queen focuses on the life of Elodie, a young Princess who has seen her mother meet an untimely death. The thing is, like any in the Royal Family, the time to mourn is swift and you need to start putting into place big plans. See, if you’re not the next Novan ruler, we don’t know who will be. You can be sure that many will attempt to take the crown though.

This visual novel will have you helping Elodie in fending off invasions, in dispatching assassins, taking down evil schemes and closing down the civil war which threatens to overrun the world, all in hope that she survives long enough to be crowned Queen of the land.

Working Visual Novel, RPG, simulation and strategy elements, Hanako Games are attempting much here in Long Live The Queen, especially when you consider that magic and secret powers will fast come to the fore, as multiple mysteries will slowly unfurl and how a smattering of humour continues to keep you immersed.

“It’s not so much that it uses elements from all three of those standard genres and more that the gameplay is something entirely different which might be described as any of those three. The gameplay consists of choosing what skills Elodie learns and then deciding how to respond to a series of events and crises that happen within her country. Many choices are not available or will lead to disastrous outcomes unless Elodie has sufficient skill to handle the problem effectively, and every choice has ongoing consequences for the story and the country.” – Hanako Games

The key features list includes:

  • A rich and compelling story
  • RPG, Strategy and Simulation
  • Magic and Secret Powers
  • Multiple Endings
  • Intriguing Cast each with their own political agenda
  • Background Mysteries to uncover
  • Cute Graphics
  • Unlockable Outfits
  • Achievements list
  • Cruelty, Moods, Skills and Approval
  • Black Humour

Every choice you make will see Long Live The Queen evolve – the question is, will you see Elodie become Queen. Or be deposed. Or even end up… dead?

You’ll find Long Live The Queen on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised). It’s also present and correct on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Game Description:

Being a Princess is not an easy job. Being a Queen is even harder. Especially when you’re only fourteen years old, and the reason you’ve inherited the throne is that your royal mother has just met an untimely end. Can you survive long enough to reach your coronation? Now power is up for grabs, and scheming nobles everywhere are looking to snatch a piece of you. Aggressive neighbors will take advantage of any weakness to enlarge their borders at your expense. And that’s not even mentioning the magical dangers which are lying in wait… The choices you make will determine your legacy.
