A Royal Shotgun
Disaster! All of your black pieces have betrayed you, and have moved over to the white side. The Black King will not stand for this, and will relentlessly pursue the white pieces in all-out combat. His trusty royal shotgun in hand, the newly-branded Shotgun King will not rest until the board is littered with little white scraps.
Available now on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC, Shotgun King: The Final Checkmate will have you levelling up the Shotgun King in the next testing roguelike.
This turn-based title will have you moving through the chessboard, and using your shotgun to take out any pieces in range. You don’t have to get onto the same square as the enemy pieces to take them out; ranged weaponry has never been seen before in chess!
Roguelike Elements
Upon defeating the opposing King in each level, you’ll be rewarded with upgrades to your king. Be careful, because your opposition will also receive a boost also! Each run will take around 20 minutes to complete. With 15 levels of difficulty, in-game achievements to unlock, and an endless mode to boot, we can see many playing for hours on end.
The console version of the game also includes new visual flourishes to spice up the action. As well as revised interfaces and a new tutorial.
The Key Features of Shotgun King on Xbox
- Choose wisely: Every turn, you may either move your king or shoot at enemy pieces, after what you’ll need to move again to reload your shotgun.
- Avoid Checkmate: Kill the White King to complete the floor and move on to the next level!
- Strengthen both Kings: After completing each floor, you will upgrade your king… but also your opponent!
- A whole kingdom: 15 difficulty ranks, an endless mode, a chase mode, and over 100 upgrades are waiting for you!
