For many it’ll be the original text adventures that hold strong memories. If you remember back to those days, there’s a chance the Sierra Entertainment/Sierra On-Line name will be front and centre. The two founders of that iconic brand are back and with Cygnus Entertainment comes Colossal Cave on Xbox. This should be seen as the ultimate 3D interpretation of the original text adventure

Finally available for purchase and download on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One is Colossal Cave. It previously launched on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC and Meta Quest 2.

Enter Ken and Roberta Williams

Colossal Cave sees Ken and Roberta Williams hit back into the gaming scene in style. Presented via their new company, Cygnus Entertainment, it’s these two who are looking to take those old-school adventures kicking and screaming into the modern era.

Colossal Cave runs at a £20.99 price point unveiling unfathomable adventures and wonders from there on out. This is a properly true adventure. Dip in and you’ll be working a winding labyrinth of underground caves, as story book-styled beasts come in the form of living creatures. Some of these will become your best friend, others, the most evil of foes.

With a host of puzzling to enjoy, item and treasure collection and more, the only question left to ask is whether or not you have the courageous spirit needed to venture deep into the Colossal Cave.

Features include

  • Simple, intuitive, point-&-click controls
  • Captivating, colorful, and immersive regions
  • Challenging, logic-driven puzzles
  • A perfect blend of challenge and reward
  • Scenic subterranean vistas with hidden secrets
  • Over 20 individual achievements to accomplish
  • A game that is incredibly fun and engaging
  • A game experience unlike any other

“The original Colossal Cave Adventure, a 2019 Video Game Hall of Fame recipient, will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Ken and I,” says Roberta Williams, founder and Lead Designer, of Cygnus Entertainment. “We’ve built this world with all of the love and wonder of the first game, and hope the next generation of gamers can experience the same magical touch it had on our lives.”

Buy Colossal Cave on Xbox now!

You’ll find the Xbox Store providing the download on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It’s priced at £20.99.

Other format stores will play host to those looking to grab Colossal Cave on PlayStation, Switch, PC (Steam) or VR.

We’ll look to run a review asap.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
