Soup Pot is coming to Xbox and Steam

It seems like the whole gaming industry has some weird fixation with cooking games and food all of a sudden. We could blame Overcooked!, we could point fingers at Cake Bash, or we could just shout loud words the way of Cook, Serve, Delicious!!! 3. Whatever the reason matters little though as we find another entry into the genre preparing to cook up a storm on Xbox and PC – Soup Pot.

Coming from the Chikon Club team, an independent game development studio featuring a collective of talent from Southeast Asia, Soup Pot is a cooking game with a focus on creativity. Revealed at the ID@Xbox Twitch showcase, the game will be coming to Xbox Series X|S and Pc through Steam in August 2021, delivering gamers the chance to capture the open nature of home cooking, allowing experimentation across 100 different dishes.

In Soup Pot you will get to utilise beautifully stylized 3D renders of ingredients to create the dishes of your dreams, all whilst taking in a fun yet challenging experience. You’ll also be able to choose your own plating styles like a proper MasterChef, to ensure that the dishes look as pretty and delicious as possible. It won’t matter if you haven’t a clue about how to rustle up a decent meal though as Soup Pot’s kitchen is a welcoming place, whether you’re a seasoned cook or don’t know which end of the whisk to hold – this is a game that will leave you free to experiment and try new things without having to worry about the pressure of failing.

Key Features of Soup Pot include:

  • Become a master of the kitchen, cooking 100 different mouth-watering recipes that incorporate hundreds of potential ingredients. Follow the suggested methods or express your creativity by improvising and experimenting as you see fit.
  • Play with your food! Items shout their names as they’re added to each dish, dough reacts when it’s punched, and other whimsical touches keep the atmosphere light — and it’s all accompanied by an eclectic soundtrack composed of food-themed tunes.
  • Build your audience by cooking well and learning new recipes. Your viewers will give you supportive (or sarcastic) comments, depending on how your food turns out. Like what you’ve made? You can snap pictures of your best efforts.
  • Grill, slice, bake, mix, and more, with dozens of highly interactive steps. You won’t have to do the dishes, however.

The trailer below will give further insight into Soup Pot, ahead of release in August on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Give it a watch and let us know what you think.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
