2026's Best Games

New game releases usually signal the start of a bit of excitement. But when that new game is free to download, the old excitement meter raises way above the norm. Today, Speedrunners is released for free. Excited yet?

Available right now on Xbox One, Speedrunners is being gifted to all Xbox One gamers thanks to the Xbox Games With Gold scheme. Now, like all titles making the most of the free-ness brought about by the monthly Games With Gold feature, you will of course need to be the holder of a valid Xbox Live Gold subscripton. If you’re not, then well, firstly, why not? But secondly, you’ll find that you’ll be needing to pay for your Speedrunners download.

…and with the opportunity to jump into a world full of superheroes, as you compete with friends in the fast paced platformer, you’ll most definitely want to get that download in.

If you like what you find, and wish to then take your Speedrunners experience to the next level, then there are also a number of DLC packs available for you to purchase – the Trails Pack brings additional boost trails, whilst Salem’s Sprint Squad, FortKnights Fast Faction and Mr Quick’s Speedy bunch each adds in new runners. All the packs cost ÂŁ2.39, whilst a ÂŁ13.59 Deluxe Edition delivers everything you need to be competitive.

The Xbox Games Store will be able to sort you out, no matter whether you need to pay or not. If you wish to know more about the free titles being given away via the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for June 2017, then make sure you hit up our article.

Game Description:

In a city filled with superheroes, getting to crimes becomes a competition on its own. Fortunately there are enough rockets, bombs, grappling hooks, spikes, and other goodies lying around — to make the competition fun and fast. Welcome to SpeedRunners. SpeedRunners is a 4 player competitive platformer with grappling hooks, power-ups, and interactive environments. Run, jump, swing around, fire rockets, grapple onto people to knock them off screen.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
