Set to launch later in 2020 on Xbox One and PC via Steam, The Falconeer is a title that we’ve had our eyes on for some months. Providing a beautiful oceanic fantasy to a world full of third person dogfighting gameplay, it’s looking like an experience many will wish to take on. And if you don’t agree with that statement then we urge you to watch the latest story trailer in order to change your mind.
Coming from Wired Productions and the one-man independent developer Tomas Sala – you can catch our exclusive interview with Tomas in our podcast – The Falcooner promises much in its premise, as we get given the opportunity to head skywards in order to participate in some third person dogfighting across a stunning world.
The new story trailer for this airborne adventure can be seen below, and it will reveal the Seachantress (voiced by Tegan Hitchens) as the player’s main guide throughout the immersive world of the Ursee. It is this Seachantress who will happily share some of the world’s secrets as you play, and the video shows this off brilliantly; along with glimpses of the dogfighting gameplay which see you equipped with devastating ranged weaponry, in-game faction settlements, and the oceanic open-world landscape that players will traverse.
This new trailer for The Falconeer on Xbox One and PC shows short cuts of raw gameplay footage from the game’s first chapter. It is here where players are matched against pirates sailing fast ships in the sea, as well as agile airships. In addition, the trailer also provides a deeper look at the Maw, the unnatural canyon of water that spans the length of the game’s world, as well as the three warmongering rival faction settlements, which are vying for the mysterious secrets hidden at the Ursee’s unfathomable depths.
The first of these settlements is the Saladmount, a place devoted to harvesting wood-like material from the giant fungal seatrees, which is used as an ultra-light building material. After that it is the Shard, home to one of the most important Noble houses in the game, House Borgia, which is a place of sharp, imposing rock features, whilst the third is the Imperial Harbour, the largest city of the Ursee and the Royal seat atop Imperial Peak.
If you’re sold on what The Falconeer looks set to deliver then expect to get hands-on with it in the coming months. For now though the trailer will have to make do, as will the opportunity to wishlist the game over on Steam. Let us know what you think of the entire premise, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as the weeks and months progress.
