Are you ready to experience the mysterious zone? Are you looking to have your sanity questioned? Shadows of Kurgansk is now available on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.

Previously having dropped in on PC through Steam, Shadows of Kurgansk arrives from the Gaijin Entertainment and Yadon Studio teams to make a play for console gamers, with launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Remastered for console to feature improved graphics and a neater user interface, as well as other enhancements based on the PC version user feedback, Shadows of Kurgansk transports players into a dark and hostile environment simply called “The Zone”. From there it challenges them to escape from the haunted area both alive and with their sanity intact.

This is a tough old place to be though and in Shadows of Kurgansk you’ll be treated to the delights of Wild beasts, zombies, mutants and a few surviving humans who roam the ruins of civilization. You’ll come up against this lot whilst attempting to gather mushrooms and berries, hunt animals, craft weapons and gear, build shelters and break into secret government bunkers. Yep, secret government bunkers.

The thing is, that’s not the half of it and in Shadows of Kurgansk, while it’s obviously important to stay safe, staying sane is also quite a challenge. This is because the Zone anomalies play tricks with human minds, destabilising you throughout. Shadows of Kurgansk features two story campaigns focused on uncovering the Zone’s secrets, while Adventure and Survival modes allow you to explore the Zone freely and improvise.

Features include:

  • Fight zombies and hunt wild animals
  • Create weapons and tools, build shelters
  • Avoid mysterious anomalies, gather artifacts and improve your own abilities
  • Don’t become insane with the anomalous fear that comes in the darkness
  • A huge world that dramatically changes with the coming of night
  • Three game modes: Story, Adventure and Survival

With launch on console, we’ll find all versions of Shadows of Kurgansk feature 60 FPS refresh rate, whilst those on PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players will get some glorious 4K resolution as well. You’ll find the game present on the usual stores – Xbox Store, PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop. Expect to pay around ÂŁ14.99.

Let us know if you decide to pick it up. And if you want to know more, stay tuned for a full review from us soon.

Game Description:

“Shadows of Kurgansk” is an adventure game, where you need to survive in an area full of danger and mystery. Your goal is to stay alive and find the way out, fighting monsters and completing story driven missions. To stay alive you will need to hunt, gather supplies, build storage and asylums. You will be able to create tools, clothes and equipment. In due time your life will become quite comfortable, but the Zone is not exactly the best place to spend the rest of your time. You will need to find the way out. Even if you fail, remember – death is only the beginning. The beginning of a new journey!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
