When the sci-fi survival horror of Chernobylite came to Xbox and PlayStation in the latter months of 2021, we very much loved what was delivered. Providing some superb visuals and soundtracks, mixing in a great variety of gaming styles, All in! Games and the development team at The Farm 51 had a bit of a hit on their hands. Now though that same game is coming to the next-gen, with an Xbox Series X|S and PS5 release confirmed along with an Enhanced PC Edition and some tasty DLC.
Coming to next-gen consoles on April 21st 2022, the enhanced version of Chernobylite will be supported by a retail PlayStation 5 version, the PC Enhanced Edition, and the intriguing Blue Flames DLC. And then, following that, players can expect continuous game enhancements and more content updates throughout the year.
“If last year is any indication, Chernobylite has taken a worthy place among the best indie games of 2021. The next-gen release is the natural next step that fans of the game have been eagerly awaiting,” said Piotr Żygadło, CEO at All in! Games. “We’re proud to say that it will be the biggest visual revamp of the game so far, and that due to the simultaneous release of the PC Enhanced Edition, players across all platforms will undoubtedly benefit.”
The upgrade to the next-gen version of Chernobylite on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, along with the PC Enhanced Edition will be available for owners of the game through a free update. Both updates will introduce ray tracing (how we love a bit of Ray and his tracing) and will greatly improve the game’s already hyper-realistic visuals. It’s the next-gen versions more specifically which will add two new graphic profiles: 4K (Dynamic) 30 FPS and 1080p (Ultra Details) 60 FPS. The PS5 update will additionally add features for DualSense Controllers such as advanced vibrations and adaptive triggers as well as compatibility with PlayStation’s Activity Card feature.
Sounds good eh? Well, to make that April 21st date even more interesting, Chernobylite will also receive the eventful Blue Flames, the first of four scheduled content drops for 2022. Blue Flames will offer a free content update, ‘Memories of You’; a new weapon, the Silent Assassin crossbow (pictured below); and a paid content pack. With ‘Memories of You’, players will learn more about Tatyana and Igor’s fateful backstory through new events and collectibles.
If you have a copy of Chernobylite to hand, you’ll be sorted when the next-gen update pushes out. If you don’t have it, well, heading to the Xbox Store or PlayStation Store will solve that little issue.
