Sniper Elite 5 released back in May 2022, but honestly, it feels like a game that launched much longer ago. Part of that may be because of the huge amount of DLC Rebellion have pushed out for the game. DLC that today gets increased with Sniper Elite 5 Kraken Awakes. 

Kraken Awakes is the latest DLC add-on for Sniper Elite 5. The base game is playable across Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC, with the DLC equally sorted format wise. 

Sniper Elite 5 continues to gain content

Sniper Elite 5 Kraken Awakes is the final piece in the Season Pass Two puzzle. It builds on the likes of the Rough Landing Mission and Weapon Pack, the Death From Above Pack and the Saboteur Weapon and Skin Pack. If you’ve picked up any of those, or have the Sniper Elite 5 Season Pass Two to hand, you’ll want to enjoy what the Kraken Awakes immediately. 

In this latest expansion you’ll get the chance to embark on a new mission. One that will see you trying to sabotage an under-construction aircraft carrier called Operation Kraken. It’s an Operation that has been masterminded by Friedrich Vogel and as Karl Fairburne, you’ll need to put things right.

Tasked with utilising darkness and shadows, you will need to prevent the carrier from setting sail and save the Allies. The DLC also introduces new narrative, immersive gameplay, and exciting additions to the arsenal, including the Patriot weapon skin, American Airborne character skin, and the Mod.712 pistol.

So what do we have in Kraken Awakes?

Intel gathered in previous missions has revealed that Operation Kraken is still a looming threat that demands your immediate action. Karl Fairburne must utilise the cover of darkness and harness the power of shadows to sabotage an under-construction aircraft carrier, that is the new home of Operation Kraken, and ensure it never sets sail.

The fate of the Allies hangs in the balance Рare you ready to face off against Friedrich Vogel, former deputy to Abelard M̦ller and the new mastermind behind this diabolical scheme?

What awaits is an unforgettable adventure. You will navigate an intricately designed military dock and unravel the mysteries hidden within the sprawling aircraft carrier. An abundance of secrets are waiting to be uncovered. Do so and you’ll be found gathering valuable intel and gaining the upper hand in your mission will be the only way to save the world from impending doom.

Further weapons

Kraken Awakes not only delivers a gripping narrative and immersive gameplay but also introduces exciting additions to your arsenal. Immerse yourself in an all-American look for Karl with the new Patriot weapon skin and American Airborne character skin.

You’ll also be able to dominate the battlefield. This is thanks to the Mod.712 pistol, boasting detachable magazines and an unrivalled automatic fire rate, this is perfect for close-quarters combat.

A new multiplayer map is introduced

In addition to the Kraken Awakes content pack, Rebellion are also pushing out a thrilling new multiplayer map. The Abandoned Quarry allows you the chance to engage in heart-pounding firefights. And as you do so, you’ll explore the treacherous depths of the old mine.

Seeking out vantage points and hidden corners in the nearby coal processing centre will provide the ideal sniping sightlines across the map. Whether you prefer the stealthy approach or all-out gunfire and action, the Abandoned Quarry offers an adrenaline-fueled experience for Snipers of all playstyles.

Sniper Elite 5 Kraken Awakes is available today for Sniper Elite 5 players to enjoy. You’ll find it on the Xbox Store, or via the Season Two Pass. It goes without saying that you’ll need the base game in place to make the most of this.
