A few years have passed since Fuga: Melodies of Steel brought some turn-based RPGing to the world. In our eyes, it was the genre addition you didn’t know you needed. But now the gang are back, and this time Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is fighting it out through Game Pass, leaving you to make hard choices and tough decisions as you go.

Available to purchase and download right now, or allowing the Game Pass route should you have a sub to hand, is Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 from CyberConnect2. It focuses on a story that picks up just a year after the events of the original game, leaving you to consider the war done and dusted. But war is never over.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 whisks you back off to a world in which you take charge of a gang of kids, intent on fighting back all evil to make their world a better place. In fact, it’s very much like the original game in that regard, but CyberConnect2 are looking to push on with new ideas, elements and features.

In Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 every decision you make will be one that changes how events play out, whilst every battle will be one of intensity. Combining that with a newly revamped tactical battle system, we’d suspect that Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 will appeal massively to those who took in the first game back in 2021. Even then, with Game Pass play more than doable, this could well be a great jumping in point to the world of Fuga.

If you need more, check out the key features…

  • Revamped tactical battle system! – New additions to the battle system based on player feedback such as the reworked Soul Cannon and newly implemented Managarm allows for cutting-edge tactical gameplay!
  • Fight battles how you see fit! – Plot your path forward on the branching routes of the battlefield. The new airship support system allows for even more options!
  • Make every decision count! – The choices you make affect the Judgment Gauges, ultimately changing how events play out. You are the author of your own story.

We’ll be running review of Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 very shortly, letting you know if this one is able to follow on the tale well. Keep an eye out for that in the days ahead.

For now, the Xbox Store will allow access to the standard game for £33.49, playable through Game Pass if you would prefer. Alternatively, the Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 Deluxe Edition will set you back £49.99, adding in a digital art book, soundtrack and in-game bonuses for good measure…

  • Content:
  • ・Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 – Full Game
  • ・Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 – Digital Art Book (80 pages)
  • ・Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 – Digital Soundtrack (15 tracks)
  • ・Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 – In-Game Bonuses:
    • Sleepwear costumes for all characters (can be used during intermission and expedition)
    • Dummy Energy for the Managarm (can use the Managarm 1 time without using a character’s life force)
    • Dummy Soul for the Soul Cannon (can use the Soul Cannon 1 time without sacrificing a character)
    • Set of items

Let us know which version you grab. Surely the easiest decision you will make will be to utilise Game Pass?

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam, Epic, Windows).

Game Description:

A year has passed since the events of Fuga: Melodies of Steel. The war was fought and won. Life went on. That is, until the children are summoned to Pharaoh to aid with the investigation of the recovered Taranis. During their survey, the Taranis suddenly goes haywire and sets out on a deadly rampage, trapping and absconding with a number of their party. The remaining children and Malt board their erstwhile enemy—the dread tank Tarascus—to chase after the Taranis and save their friends.
