The Muckingham Files adds more free cleaning to PowerWash Simulator on Xbox and Game Pass

We’re not sure even the teams behind it – FuturLab and Square Enix – knew what a hit PowerWash Simulator would be. But, frankly, there’s nothing we’d rather do than grab our hose and get cleaning for an hour or two in the virtual world. And that’s a bit of luck because there’s another free update hitting PowerWash Simulator today – and The Muckingham Files adds in even more cleaning opportunities.

Having released in the summer of 2022, PowerWash Simulator fast proved itself as being a bit of a hit. We hyped it for the satisfying gameplay, the therapeutic, rewarding elements and mechanics that held it together. And whilst we couldn’t ever have seen ourselves enjoying a bit of powerwashing, we were wrong. It’s still a game that we have on our playlist, dipping in and out as the likes of Lara Croft’s iconic Croft Manor came up for cleaning duties

Now though comes further washing, and with Update 1.2 we discover the uncovering of The Muckingham Files. This free update takes us to the Muckingham recreation ground; a place where an absolutely filthy food truck has rocked up. We need that truck to be shimmering, the centrepiece of the local area.

From there further options have been given a spruce up by the Square and FuturLab teams; pre-existing bonus jobs have had new stories added that supplement (whilst not continuing) the main story – bringing them in line with this update and any future updates in the Muckingham universe. You’ll get to replay them for more tales and trivia from your favourite filthy town.

What’s even more exciting though is that there’s a bit of a roadmap in place that will keep PowerWash Simulator fans happy in the months going forward. A full physical releases is occurring on June 13th 2023, but before that are teases of some new paid DLC for the base game. We’ll be first in line as that drops, as well as keeping an eye out for free and paid content in Q3 2023, ahead of free seasonal content and more paid DLC in Q4 – if we’re not getting some spooky Halloween vibes or sparkly Xmas scenes to clean up, we won’t be happy.

For now just keep an eye out for The Muckingham Files update that is hitting PowerWash Simulator today. You’ll need the base game to hand in order to enjoy it – it’s available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Store link for you), PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
