It’s been some four years since GRIS rocked up onto Switch and Steam, providing players with a chance to take in a super serene, extremely evocative gaming experience. Now it’s time to also release that game on Xbox and PlayStation, making the most of the power of Xbox Series X|S and PS5.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, as well as on PC through Steam and Nintendo Switch should you prefer, GRIS is a gaming experience that plays out with pretty much no text, as the player is pushed along by simple visual prompts and universal icons.

This means that no matter where you are in the world, and no matter what your native tongue, GRIS can be enjoyed by all. This is amplified by the fact that it is totally free of any danger, runs low on the frustration stakes and ensures you cannot die.

Drop into GRIS and you’ll find a meticulously designed world brought to life with delicate art, detailed animation, and an elegant original score. Through the game, light puzzles, platforming sequences, and optional skill-based challenges come to the fore, revealing themselves as more of Gris’s world becomes accessible.

It’s a game that already looks beautiful, but with GRIS releasing on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, it should do so even more. See, the Xbox Series S version will run at 2K 120fps, whilst those on Xbox Series X will find that bumped to 4k-60fps if they so wish. PS5 players meanwhile will discover 4K and 120fps goodness in the house, along with DualSense features for good measure.

We’d advise you to give the trailer below a watch, taking in what GRIS developer Nomada has put together. From there, the Xbox Store will sort you out with an Xbox Series X|S download for £14.24 (you can play on Xbox One too), whilst the PlayStation Store will do similar for PS5 players.

Remember, GRIS is still on Steam and Switch too.

Game Description:

Gris is a hopeful young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a painful experience in her life. Her journey through sorrow is manifested in her dress, which grants new abilities to better navigate her faded reality. As the story unfolds, Gris will grow emotionally and see her world in a different way, revealing new paths to explore using her new abilities. GRIS is a serene and evocative experience, free of danger, frustration, or death. Players will explore a meticulously designed world brought to life with delicate art, detailed animation, and an elegant original score. Through the game light puzzles, platforming sequences, and optional skill-based challenges will reveal themselves as more of Gris’s world becomes accessible. GRIS is an experience with almost no text, only simple control reminders illustrated through universal icons. The game can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of their spoken language.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
