Visuals don’t always sell a game, but they certainly help. If you’re of that frame of mind, there is possibly no way you’ll be able to ignore the launch of Sable, especially as it’s optimised for Series X|S and playable through Xbox Game Pass.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, Sable looks stunning. We mean, PROPER stunning in visual terms. For the most part, it’s those visuals which will ensure that this comes to the fore of your gaming sessions, as you join the titular Sable on a journey of discovery.

Priced at £20.99 or available for free through Game Pass, Sable promises to deliver a unique and unforgettable journey, all as you help Sable traverse the lands, exploring the world and attempting to understand exactly what is going on. With a hover bike at hand, and the chance to climb, leap and move through a wonderfully wild world, how you play Sable is pretty much up to you.

There will be puzzles to complete too though, each of which will reward you in one way or another, whilst collectible masks and more should always be at the fore of your mind. Chatting to those you meet is also a more than able task, with Shedworks and Raw Fury having honed what is required of a stunning adventure.

We’ve been hands-on with Sable for a little while already and can confidently admit that this is one of the better games of the year. Give our full review a read to find out our exact thoughts – all delivered in a spoiler-free way.

The key features of the game include:

  • • Explore a rich world, full of remnants of past civilisations.
  • • Climb, leap, hover, glide – use everything at your disposal to discover every inch of the world in front of you
  • • Customise your hover bike as you find, or earn, new parts
  • • Help other clans and nomads that you meet along the way
  • • Lose yourself in an adventure and find yourself through masks, outfits and other collectables, to represent who you are to those around you…
  • • Complete puzzles to earn rewards and forge your path in an unforgiving terrain

Should you then be sold on Sable, get over to the Xbox Store and grab a copy of the game. You’ll probably want to play this on Series X|S as we’re sure that’s where it pops best, but it’s fully playable on Xbox One and PC too.

Game Description:

Embark on a unique and unforgettable journey and guide Sable through her Gliding; a rite of passage that will take her across vast deserts and mesmerizing landscapes, capped by the remains of spaceships and ancient wonders. Explore the dunes on your hoverbike, scale monumental ruins and encounter other nomads as you unearth mysteries long forgotten and discover who she really is behind her mask. With its unique art style and original soundtrack by Japanese Breakfast, envelop yourself in Sable’s world and explore everything at your own pace. There is a lot in this world just waiting to be discovered. Do not be afraid. Take the leap.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
