We’ve harnessed the force in Star Wars Squadrons, we’ve enjoyed the humour of Star Wars in LEGO form, and we’ve run the route of a Jedi in Fallen Order. Now though it’s time to go podracing as Star Wars Episode I Racer hits Xbox One.

Available to purchase and download on Xbox One right now – pretty much arriving as a stealth drop with little fanfare – Star Wars Episode I Racer from Aspyr brings the classic podracer from yesteryear right up to modern times.

Priced at just £12.49, if you’re after a new Star Wars fix then this is most certainly going to be one that is tempting as you jump into a podracer and begin to tear it up across the likes of Tatooine, Baroonda, and Malastare amongst others. In fact, there are eight worlds in total that play host to the tracks in Star Wars Episode I Racer, yet only be discovering short cuts and hunting down secrets will you ever be able to prove yourself as the fastest podracer in the universe.

Star Wars Episode I Racer also holds no less than 25 playable racers, with the likes of Anakin Skywalker, Sebulba, and Ratts Tyerell and more in place. Throw in the opportunity to upgrade your own unique podracer thanks to the work of various pit droids, and well, you’ve pretty much got everything you could wish for.

Complete with a modern control scheme, achievements galore and enough Star Wars vibes to sink a Death Star, whether you’re a fan of the franchise, or just looking for a new, old, racer, Star Wars Episode I Racer looks set to deliver.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
