Developers Splash Damage – perhaps best known for their prior work on Gears Tactics – recently introduced a brand new title set in the Transformers universe. Transformers: Reactivate is an online-action title which tasks you and up to three online buddies to battle The Legion, a group of evil Decepticon-esques that may just be the greatest threat ever posed to the heroic Autobots.Â
It’s no surprise that, whatever Autobot you choose to take to battle, such a bout will take place with tons of explosions, stray weapons and lasers flying about the place. You’ll be constantly switching up your playstyle between the bot and vehicle form for each character – what would a Transformers game be without such a feature?
The gaming side of the Transformers brand has enjoyed some pretty fruitful ventures in recent times, with Transformers: Devastation perhaps the best of recent releases. Richard Jolly, CEO of Splash Damage, is clearly keen to get the next game out to the masses: “Growing up with G1 TRANSFORMERS in the ’80s means it’ll always hold a special place in my heart, it’s both an honour and a privilege to work with such a beloved franchise. We know fans have been waiting a long time for a new TRANSFORMERS game on consoles and pc, and we’re going to give them the experience they deserve.”
Reactivate is also being contributed to by those over at Hasbro – their SVP of Business Development & Digital Licensing, Eugene Evans, had this to say on the collaboration: “Fans have been eagerly awaiting a new game that immerses them into our iconic TRANSFORMERS universe. We’re thrilled to share a first look on one of gaming’s biggest nights. Splash Damage has an amazing track record with some of the world’s most famous IP’s and have a strong creative passion for the TRANSFORMERS brand. We’re confident that TRANSFORMERS: REACTIVATE will be hugely popular with the TRANSFORMERS community and continues the Hasbro Blueprint 2.0 strategy of creating first-class branded entertainment across diverse categories and platforms including video games.”
Whilst there is no release date out there for Transformers: Reactivate on PC and console, however there is a closed beta planned for some point in 2023. For all future news regarding the next hot Transformers property, you can be sure we’ll have it here at TheXboxHub.
