Looking to find something that will ensure the E3 gaming hype continues? Just after something to stop you twiddling your thumbs? The PLAY Expo: Glasgow may well be worth paying a visit.
Hot on the heels of the biggest gaming conference of the year is something on a slightly smaller scale, but that doesn’t mean you should dismiss it. PLAY Expo: Glasgow is taking place at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on the 17th and 18th June 2017, promising unmissable entertainment including retro gaming, VR sessions, tournaments and more.
You may have heard of PLAY Expo – at least if you’re with us in the UK. It is after all an event for lovers of gaming culture, encompassing dedicated zones for all the family. It’ll also deliver live gaming as tournament specialists Versus Scotland deliver a number of tournaments with prizes going to the most successful players, across VR, Retro Gaming, Arcade & Pinball, TableTop, Minecraft and Next-Gen Gaming zones.
Andy Brown, Director for Replay Events commented: “As we deliver the best in gaming culture to as much of the UK as possible, we’re delighted to return to Glasgow after an incredible event last year. PLAY Expo Glasgow will deliver incredible interactive exhibits, the latest games, and an incredible experience for the whole family.”
But that’s not all as Replay Events – those behind the Expo – have announced a new free space initiative for Scottish Indie game developers. The Indie Zone will be curated by Scottish indie specialists, WeThrowSwitches, and will be actively supporting the Scottish game development scene, openly inviting aspiring indie publishers to get in touch should they wish to display their game free of charge at the show.
Already confirmed for the free Indie Zone are “Project Swing” from Deep Fried Games, Asobi Tech’s “Mao Mao Castle” and arcade shooter “Space Toads Mayhem” from Sound Cakes.
Craig Fairweather of WeThrowSwitches, commented: “At Play Expo Glasgow last year, we were immediately struck by the energy and passion throughout the event, from both organisers and attendees alike. There was a fantastic reception to the Scottish indie games we helped show off, and we’re looking forward to doing it all again this June!”
