Why so serious? FightNJokes takes a comedic stab at the Xbox norm

There are many fighters and brawlers out there, with all of them happily dealing in copious amounts of violence, beatings and aggression. And then in wanders FightNJokes, slamming its drink down on the bar before kicking things off once again. The difference being, this one wants to have a laugh as the brawl picks up.

Running a completely different angle to the usual Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Street Fighter vibes, FightNJokes brings some humour to the genre, taking players off to wild and wacky, rather wondrous, locations as they travel the world and get their smackdowns in.

Working a 2D retro style, the team at Mental Drink has created FightNJokes with humour right at the fore. That’s not to say that the fighting mechanics won’t be up to the task – we hope they will and will be sure to detail them in an upcoming review – but in and amongst the hammer blows will be a host of jokes and fun. This ain’t called FightNJokes for nothing you know.

Promising 60fps gameplay and a bright and colourful hand-drawn visual style that runs a slight retro route, if you’re up and ready for a new rumble then FightNJokes should certainly be one to consider.

You’ll find it readily available on the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. We don’t always have to be so serious, you know.

Game Description:

Play across the world, and the galaxy in weird, wacky and wonderful locations that are sure to keep our players amused. “This ain’t your grand daddy’s fighting game”. FightNJokes is a semi-humorous retro style 2D fighting game created from original IP while taking a gentle poke at the more serious sides of Fighting Games. Don’t be confused, FightNJokes may not take itself too seriously, there is a real solid, fun combat and fighting experience here. FightNJokes is designed in a unique hand-drawn retro style palette simulating 256 colors, with old school style pixel graphics and effects with fast fluid 60 frames per seconds animations.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
