Violet Wisteria
Violet Wisteria – hack and slash on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch

When Wisteria Asagiri is left as the only heroine capable of saving earth, a whole new adventure looks to play out. Will you be able to help? You’ll get to find out in Violet Wisteria on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Available right now to purchase and download from the usual digital stores on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch is Violet Wisteria. The latest to emerge from Eastasiasoft, it’s a fantasy platformer that has been inspired by the old Japanese offerings from the 1980s and 1990s. We’ve watched the trailer and taken in the screenshots. There’s no doubt that this is extremely unique in this day and age.

Priced at £12.49, Violet Wisteria brings together fantasy gaming with anime and manga, as you take on the role of Wisteria Asagiri, slashing, fighting, battling your way across a range of stages and levels. It comes with a bit of a narrative. But mostly, as long as you can jump and slash, you’ll find enjoyment from what is on offer.

There’s a bit of a tri-colour attack system going on in here too. This means you’ll need to be on your guard at all times, slashing and thrusting dictated by the colour of the enemy ahead.

Key features

  • Take the role of a magical heroine inspired by classic Japanese fantasy games, anime and manga!
  • Slash your way through mystical landscapes and starfields in nostalgic side-scrolling style.
  • Use the tri-color attack system to strategically take down various enemy types!
  • Enjoy an empowering narrative told through pixel art cutscenes.
  • Face off against tricky bosses and end their rule of terror!

Buy and play now!

If some old-school platforming is your bag, then Violet Wisteria should be considered. It’s fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S, playable on Xbox One too if you must. Just head to the Xbox Store and grab a download.

You’ll also find it on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

Stick around for a review.

Violet Wisteria Description

Become a magical sword-wielding heroine and take on the forces of evil across time, space and alternate dimensions!

Return to the style of Japanese fantasy platformers from the ’80s and ’90s as you take command of brave heroine Wisteria Asagiri on her quest to save Earth, the Higher Realm and the Under-Realms from the dark wizard Maskandes! Violet Wisteria is a side-scrolling action platformer with a unique tri-color attack system. Requiring quick judgment and precision, this system allows Wisteria to execute sword slashes and thrusts based on an enemy’s color, where only the correct attack will strike true.

Enemy colors are randomized to keep players on their toes across 8 carefully crafted stages, each leading up to an exciting boss battle! Travel between dimensions, from floating islands and serene forests to ruined cityscapes and the ends of the cosmos, wielding your sword for the sake of peace and justice!
