Cybertrash Statyx takes us to an Xbox, PlayStation and Switch future

Whilst Cybertrash STATYX looks to start off pretty serene, you can be sure it doesn’t stay that way. Nope, this is an action platformer that whisks you off to a futuristic world, delivering the most enticing of difficulty curves as it goes.

Available right now on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, Cybertrash STATYX is the product of the indie developer, Uncle Frost Team. It’s been picked up by prolific indie publisher Sometimes You to provide gamers with the chance to take in a tactical 2D action platformer.

What plays out is frantic, full of action and high entertainment – at least if we take the dev and publisher for their word!

The life of Jenet

Running a price of £8.39 from the Xbox Store, you’ll find yourself able to play Cybertrash STATYX on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch if you so prefer.

Dip into the wallet and you’ll discover yourself in a future world, one in which robots and AI have begun to replace the citizens of the land – perhaps it’s not that far into the future after all? Corporations are waging war on each other, inhabitants left to suffer, as many try to get a grip on the system.

You play as Jenet, running, jumping, sliding your way to victory. But you’ll also need to help Jenet take down enemies, pick up experience points and upgrade themselves as you head through some 15 levels of action and missions. Thankfully you can amend difficulty and balance if need be.

Inspired by an anime with a cyberpunk setting, the development team pointed out some salient features, “We are proud of how we managed to present the story, characters and balance the game for different styles of players. The game has three game modes with their own characteristics and accents. The player can choose the most suitable game balance for the passage. You can also note good shooting mechanics and interesting types of weapons.”

Buy Cybertrash STATYX now

You’ll find Cybertrash STATYX on the Xbox Store. In fact, there are two different versions over on there – one that runs on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, whilst another is Xbox Series X|S exclusive, totally optimised for those consoles.

Whichever you pick up, an £8.39 price tag applies. Although there is a small launch discount in place if you are quick, as well as a Free Trial.

You should also find Cybertrash STATYX on the digital stores of PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Will you pick up a copy? The comments are below.

Cybertrash STATYX Description

Cybertrash STATYX is a tactical 2D action-platformer.

Run, jump, slide, destroy enemies, gain experience points, upgrade your character – Jenet, who is trying to escape from the corporation.

In the distant future, the industrial part of the world has separated from nature and built its infrastructure through the activities of local corporations. Robots are used to control the population. All those who disagree with the dictatorship of corporations united in opposition. The corporate response keeps pace with technological progress, and the population is condemned to cyborgization.

People are abducted and modified by installing neural manipulators in various ways. Due to the limited resource of chips, the newly-minted cyborgs also take control of the unmodified population. Captured people have their memories erased and turned into cyborgs. The opposition is weakening.

As the main character, Janet, you plunge into the depths of events, trying to remember the past and escape from the clutches of the corporation. Uncover the conspiracy against humanity!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
