Should you be looking for something a little different to the norm, then we’d suspect that the latest additions to the Game Pass service will suit. A couple of new Xbox and PC games pop up for play, and they are certainly dealing in the weird and the strange.Â
Today’s Game Pass additions come in the form of a couple of tasty double dippers, as we see Figment 2: Creed Valley (Cloud, Console, and PC) and The Wandering Village (Cloud, Console, and PC) arrive for playtime.
If you’re a Game Pass subscriber, there’s pretty much no real reason to not get excited for the latest additions to the service. On the back of a few games hitting home just recently – including the shadowy surprises of TOEM and Maquette – come even more titles.Â
The weird – The Wandering Village
We’re mostly excited for the inclusion of The Wandering Village, as it’s been one that we’ve kept our eyes on for a little while. It does pop in Game Preview form though.Â
This one is a city-builder in all but name. But it’s very different to anything you would have played before.
See, it tasks you to become the leader of a village – the wandering village – as you set up home on the back of a weird creature. This ‘Onbu’ plays host to your citizens, allowing them to create a land worth living. Utilising the resources at hand and taking in the world as you traipse across it will be your main goal.
Of course, plenty of challenge will come to the fore – you are living on top of an animal, after all. No matter the premise though, The Wandering Village on Xbox and PC looks to have what it takes to appeal to city-building fans.Â
The only ‘downside’ – if we can call it that – is that The Wandering Village is making the most of Game Preview as well as Game Pass. That means this is far from the finished product, with the dev team utilising player feedback to continue to construct the living world. As long as you are fully down with that process though, we see no reason to not join The Wandering Village today.
The strange – Figment 2: Creed Valley
And then we have Figment 2: Creed Valley.
We have much love for the Figment games – mostly the first, but we’ll happily point players to the sequel too. With Game Pass power behind it, it all feels like a bit of a no-brainer as to whether you should be playing.
The best thing is for our full review of Figment 2: Creed Valley to tempt you in. We gave it a 3.5/5 in review, concluding our thoughts with the following line.Â
“While Figment 2: Creed Valley represents a bit of a wobble for a potential and future game series, it’s far from a bad one. Just rewind back to the start of the series if you fancy jumping in.”
Not too shabby eh?
But what else is on the Game Pass table?
The rest of July is fairly rammed Game Pass wise. We’re got further games due to arrive in the service in the form of Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) on July 25th, with the hugely anticipated Venba (Console and PC) on the 31st.
That final day of the month does see a number of games move out too. If you are slap bang in the middle of Dreamscaper, Expeditions: Rome (PC only) or Marvel’s Avengers, we urge you to get to the end of the playthrough as fast as you can. We’ll also be saying goodbye to The Ascent and Two Point Campus too.Â
Will you be missing any of those? Or does the daring duo of The Wandering Village and Figment 2 make up for it? The comments are below.
