No matter how many hotels you have stayed in, chances are you would never have seen one quite like the Penrose hotel in The Spectrum Retreat. But now you have the chance to pay a visit and take a short stay, the question is… should you?
Available right now on Xbox One and PC, with a PS4 release a few days ago and a Nintendo Switch edition following these up later this year, The Spectrum Retreat is a first person puzzler set in the Penrose hotel.
ÂŁ9.99 will see you thrust into a wonderful art-deco setting as it combines with a superb soundtrack to play host to the mysteries of the Penrose, all as you attempt to uncover exactly what is going on beneath the surface. This is done by taking in and completing a number of colour-coded puzzles and taking in mind-bending physics.
With a bit of the surreal about it, BAFTA awards under the developers belt, and a tale that keeps on giving, if you like a bit of first person puzzle action, or have just been taken in by those brilliant visuals, then you should prepare yourself to spend a few days at the Penrose.
The Xbox Store will give up the keys to the hotel should you be willing, with those on PC also finding the doors opening today. If you’re quick, you may even be able to find a little launch discount. And you should be purchasing and downloading The Spectrum Retreat too – if only because our review speaks very highly of it.
