If you can remember back to 2016, you’ll remember that it was about then that Artifex Mundi started flooding the Xbox scene. Their bag was the Hidden Object genre. And from there they’ve continued to thrive. But that was before the power of Xbox Series X|S was even a twinkling in Phil Spencer’s eye. Today they use that power to push a long-standing classic in the form of Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride on Xbox Series X|S.

The Bride Grim

Having first released on Xbox via Xbox One back in 2016, Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride is now fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S. This isn’t one of those free new-gen updates though. You’re looking at an all-new Xbox Store page and a new wallet-opening price. At least there’s a free trial for those who haven’t yet dipped in.

The Grim Legends series is one that has rolled out nicely over the years. In fact, it is now a full trilogy with Grim Legends 2: Song of the Dark Swan and Grim Legends 3: The Dark City.

If you’ve played those games and have been holding out for a Series X|S version of The Forsaken Bride, your time has come.

Don’t expect anything new or fancy from this upgrade though. You’ll be looking at some visual shine and new-gen optimisation only. That means the same old story will take place – a pretty hokey one at that.

Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride on Xbox Series X|S is full of mystery

Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride on Xbox Series X|S whisks us off to an old forest, full of mystery. It’s in there where Ravenbrook sits – a village full of cheerful folk. The thing is, they are highly superstitious. Oh, and there’s a bottomless pit that is sited nearby. It’s called the Abyss and it’s there which the village folk fear.

We enjoyed playing through Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride back in 2016 and would think those thoughts will extend to the Xbox Series X|S version of the game. In fact, let the final line of our review sell it to you – “When you’ve had enough of the fast paced life of sports games and shooters, kick back, relax and grab Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride. Take your mind on a magical journey that’ll have you wanting more.

Worth a shot, no? If you think so, you’ll find Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride on Xbox Series X|S via the Xbox Store. It’s priced at £12.49. Obviously that older Xbox One version is still available too if you so wish.

Game Description

Within the shadow of an ancient forest, on the bottom of a foggy valley, stands the lonely village of Ravenbrook. The folk there are cheerful and diligent, yet warily superstitious. They surround the village with countless charms to keep the evil spirits at bay, for on the other side of the forest, there lies a seemingly bottomless pit, known as the Abyss. It is the place the villagers of Ravenbrook fear most…
