When it comes to wrestling games, there is pretty much only one choice – that of the WWE 2K franchise. 2K’s latest offering, WWE 2K23, marked a return to form for the series, however there’s never anything wrong with a bit of variety. That’s where AEW: Fight Forever from THQ Nordic and Yukes comes in.
A Storied History
Releasing today on Xbox, PlayStation and PC storefronts should you purchase the correct edition, AEW: Fight Forever has been developed by Yukes. Long-time wrestling game fans may be familiar with the history of the company. They were along for the ride on the WWE 2K series from 2000 all the way up until 2018, and have dabbled in wrestling spin-offs before. Now, after some disputes with 2K, Yukes have partnered with publishers THQ Nordic to release a new wrestling title.
AEW: Fight Forever is a wrestling game licensed by All Elite Wrestling (AEW), who are the largest body in the sport after the powerhouse that is WWE. AEW combines veteran, fan-fave wrestlers with new up and comers to create a roster that is dynamic, promising, and creates some of the best match-ups on television. It’s therefore only right that we can play as them!
There’s Content Galore In AEW: Fight Forever on Xbox
Consistent with the craziness of the sport, AEW: Fight Forever has a downright silly amount of fighters, modes and features for fans to sink their teeth into. Most notably, the game features over 50 of the biggest and brightest AEW fighters, dozens of weapons to bring into the ring if the rules allow, in-depth customisation tools, and more than ten different game modes.
As well as a detailed career mode, one of the most interesting modes has to be the Casino Battle Royale. This mode takes 21 wrestlers, and drip-feeds them into the ring, before there is absolute carnage between the ropes. The winner is of course the last one remaining within the ring – expect to see bodies flying and throws aplenty as you attempt to remove every other fighter.
