Tails of Iron Review – A Stupendous Soulslike

It has a fun, finely-crafted story told through splendid animation and outstanding narration, a gorgeous, adventure-filled world with plenty to explore, and one of the greatest 2D combat systems I’ve ever experienced. Tails of Iron is not only one of the best things I’ve played all year, but it’s a sign of great things to come from an incredibly talented studio.

Super Animal Royale Review – A Royal Ruckus

Super Animal Royale is a great free-to-play title. If you’re familiar with battle royales to any degree, everything here will feel simultaneously familiar and new. Wacky characters with loads of customization, fun weapons, and unique ideas will hold your attention, but the frustrating lack of accessibility options, fairly repetitive combat, and oodles of in-game currencies could be a deal breaker for some.

Mad Streets Review – Road Rage

There just isn’t that much to Mad Streets. You’ve seen everything it has to offer within the space of an hour. Playing with friends and laughing for a bit at the idea of “haha! That character fell down funny!” gets old insanely fast, and it does so even quicker when playing alone. Not to mention that even when you manage to make a hit connect in a way that you actually wanted it to, it’s as satisfying as wiping someone’s face with a rubber chicken.

Kitaria Fables Review – Grind Heavy Whimsy

Kitaria Fables is certainly not for everyone, but neither are donuts. Its visuals are mostly great, the music is a delight, and the story is charming. Sure the combat and quests are a grind, but if you enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that comes from completing lengthy tasks and you don’t have a gluten allergy, grab yourself a donut and give Kitaria Fables a try.

The Falconeer Review – Screeching for Greatness

While the combat may not be super engaging, and the story is a bad egg, the gorgeous world of The Falconeer on Xbox is a triumph. Paired with the spectacular music and breathtaking feeling of flight, this game provides what feels like an exceptional concept rather than a complete game.

Ghostrunner Review – A Bit Ghastly

Ghostrunner’s flaws are tragic ones. With it starting so strong, the bugs, poor optimization and horrendous design choices stung more and more. If all you’re looking for is a cyberpunk distraction until CD Projekt Red’s hotly anticipated title, this may be just what you’re looking for. However, if you want a game that’s consistent and well-made throughout, you could play the first eight levels of Ghostrunner on Xbox One and pretend it ends there.

CrossKrush Review – Road Rage

It’s an incredibly short game, seeing how I beat it twice in the space of two hours. And, like the automobiles that Henry and Florence blew to smithereens, those are two hours that I’ll never get back.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted now available on Xbox One

It’s still Halloween, yeah? With the Xbox One’s launch of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted, Halloween isn’t the only thing sneaking up on you. In fact, this definitive collection of the famous franchise will see to it that you never feel alone; in the creepiest way possible, of course.

Night in the Woods Review – A Night to Forget

Confusion abounds during Night in the Woods on Xbox One. Characters do things for seemingly no reason, and finding out what continues the story can be a bizarre mess.

The classics return as Grim Fandango, Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacle get Remastered for Xbox One and Game Pass

Double Fine and Lucasarts fans rejoice! Remasters of three classic adventure games are launching on the Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass. Grim Fandango Remastered, Full Throttle Remastered, and Day of the Tentacle Remastered are finally going to be in the hands of Xbox players.

Join the resistance as Watch Dogs: Legion comes to Xbox One, PS4, Stadia and PC

Get ready, because here comes one of the most intriguing games of the year. Watch Dogs: Legion launches for the Xbox One, PS4, Stadia and PC, and it is bringing all of its grandma gameplay with it.

Unlock the power to jump with Wunderling on Xbox One and PS4

Have you ever stopped to consider the everyday lives of video game henchmen? Of course not. You’re probably too busy saving the world and all that. Luckily, Wunderling launches on the Xbox One today, and it will offer a view into the life of a dedicated video game goon.

Skatemasta Tcheco Review – Crash and Burn

Skatemasta Tcheco on Xbox One is stuck in the past in the best and worst ways, and half the battle of completing a level are its frustrating controls. For a platformer, that is the very last thing that you want. The amount of health pickups is incredibly sparse for a game that barrages you with damage, and the auto-scrolling levels compound the frustration. The best reason to give the game a go is to see the incredible work that was put into creating something that feels like it just arrived via a time machine.

Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut whips up a storm on Xbox One and Switch

When it comes to video game remasters and ports, there are those that feel pretty half-baked, and there are those like Shantae: Risky’s Revenge - Director’s Cut. This upgraded edition of the second game within the acclaimed Shantae series launches today for the Xbox One and Switch, and it is bringing a bevy of alterations and upgrades with it.

The Blobs Fight Review – Putting the “Blah” in Blobs

The Blobs Fight on Xbox One is supposed to be a party game. Yet, because of its wonky, imaginative controls, and a huge lack of content, it falls extremely short. True, it has some distinctive map designs, but these are ultimately dragged down by the poor color choice and visuals.

Bartlow’s Dread Machine Review – A Jazzy Little Dandy

Though it will not win any awards for its gameplay, this game is a real treat. It encapsulates the heart and spirit of what wonderful things can be done with an indie game. Its rougher edges and rustier bits can be frustrating, but if you want to play one of the most unique titles of the year, then you could do a whole lot worse than Bartlow’s Dread Machine on Xbox One.

Spellbreak Review – High-Flying Fun

I am not a huge fan of battle royales, because I hate feeling like I have nothing to do but walk or run 80% of the time. Spellbreak on Xbox One has completely fixed this for me.

Bounty Battle Review – An Underbaked Brawler

Bounty Battle on Xbox One is a great idea. With such lovable and memorable characters from a host of indie games, it seemed like a knockout idea. Yet, horrible visuals, unfinished gameplay, and terrible optimization mar the loving treatment that was given to these indie icons.

Casting battle royale spells with Spellbreak on Xbox One

Spellbreak is the rare battle royale that has completely captured my attention. It has a super enjoyable set of moves that make exploration and battle a treat each time you drop onto the field. I love what I have seen so far, and I cannot wait to see what Proletariat, Inc. will bring in the future.
